From Starbucks. ca-- New Starbucks Rewards terms of use:

Remember to redeem your Reward at a participating store before your Stars expire. The Stars that you earn after reaching the Gold Level – including fractional Stars - expire six (6) months after the calendar month in which they are earned. You can view and track your Star balance on www.starbucks.ca/account or by using the Starbucks mobile app.
Also if you tap on an individual Transaction it will tell you the exact expiry. The Expiry Tab just lists if any Stars are expiring over the next 4mnths.

My double star day for May so enjoying a frappucino. However, I was wanting to practice with the order ahead feature in the app. Anyone else encountered that it wants to automatically apply your Star Reward. I am saving mine for a nice salad but even with the Batista's we could not figure out how to stop it from applying the Stars? So, I ordered in store...lol...as it took me so long to try & figure it out I had arrived already&was not risking losing the Stars.

Also... something new I learned from the Batista's. While trying to order ahead, when I got to the confirmation screen it alerted me I had an "offer"...I had not received an email for 25% off certain frappucinos. So if you go into the app and choose "pay" from the menu. And then tap on the image of your card...it will show you current offers. Nice to figure that out! Hope it can help someone else too!!

I knew stars expires in 6 months and where to look, but I didn't think rewards have anything to do with star expiration once you accumulated enough stars for rewards. (But rewards expires as stars expire.)

Yes, I do believe now the reward will expire as the stars expire. It used to "gather" the stars into a reward bundle and now the total just keeps building until you redeem. A bit confusing but I do like this new system and the new app despite my personal learning curve lol!!

I bought an ice coffee at a star bucks inside a loblaws and did not earn any stars. Anyone else have a problem with missing stars? Or could this be that Starbucks inside grocery stores do not participate in star rewards?

Sometimes rewards show immediately but then sometimes within 24hrs. I made 2 purchases in the same day...one showed stars with the purchase. Other I waited several hours and then called customer service and that is what they told me... sometimes is 24hrs.

I've never purchased a Starbucks card before (cards have been given to me). I am officially down to zero now and just got an offer to load $25 and receive 50 points. Is this a good deal? I don't think I would ever load more than $10 at a time. The summer is my peak Starbucks spending time though since I don't drink coffee (iced teas, yum)

Apply every possible promo code to your cart, at every store that you visit (and get points for cash back on top of that?). It's sweet and easy with HONEY.

Always use Ebates and get cash back at over 600 online stores! Use this link to get $5, FREE

I think it is a good deal because you get points for loading your card and then you use your card to make purchases and get points for the purchase. In a way you are double dipping in points.
And $25 can easily be used this summer if you get an ice coffee once a week.

Try it-nice to be given an incentive when loading your card!
I just redeemed Air Miles points to get a $10 e-gift amount put onto my registered card. I missed out on some April/May promos because I did not have any card value to use up nor to add $ to card. Especially missed out on a recent Friday food item freebie because I did not go anywhere to get Internet access and see the offer in my e-mail account! So I will wait a day or so before getting a croissant in case there might be an offer that ties a food item with a beverage or points offer.
