It may be that it was overcooked. If you have a meat thermometer you could always check if it's done before the time is up.

SLOW COOKER SPLIT PEA SOUP
1 pkg (454g) split peas, rinsed
1 meaty ham bone or 2 cups diced ham (I use both. Extract all the flavour from the bone.)
3 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 bay leaves
1 Tbsp seasoning salt
½ tsp pepper
2 L hot water
Layer into crockpot in order indicated.
Cover and cook 4-5 hours on high or 8-10 hours low.
Remove bone and bay leaves.
Mash peas to thicken more, if desired.
I usually take the immersion blender and give it a good stir. Then I have to make sure I don't blend all the carrots and ham lol
TRAILER TRASH POT ROAST
3 Tbsp olive oil
1 3-4 lb beef chuck roast
180ml of coca cola (half a can)
½ pkg of onion soup mix
Half a large bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce
Optional: Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and sear the outside of the chuck roast.
Place roast in slow cooker.
Mix coke, onion soup mix and chili sauce together in a small bowl. Pour over roast
Cover and cook on LOW for 6-7 hours.
I didn't make up the name, but it sure catches your attention.
Best kitchen item I bought honestly. We would err on the side of having something fully cooked and it would be dry every time. Same with BBQ'd food (other than cutting into it.)
