so as I was driving by today they had opening soon signs on some of the storefronts in the new No Frills Plaza at Sherman and Rymal. The pizza place is in fact going to be a Little Caesars. There will also be a dental Center a medical center and i d a. And there was another sign but it was probably for the Mediterranean restaurant. I couldn't make out what the logo was or what it said.

Opening soon signs seen in Ancaster-in the Payless Shoes plaza strip, the far end-signs for Quesada and Go Tango Shwarma eateries. Guess more competition for the Boston Pizza guests, the hot dog truck outside of Cdn Tire and the McDonald's across the way inside the Walmart Supercentre. Not to mention the nearby Domino's Pizza shop.

Dundas store remains open

Closed-Kuma's Candy in Westdale (West Hamilton). Saw the For Rent signs in the window yesterday (must have closed recently).

Closed-Ancaster's Payless Shoes in the plaza across from Walmart. Store has been emptied. I assume other locations in Hamilton/Stoney Creek are the same or close to being empty.

Opening Summer 2019-Teppermans in Ancaster (I assume in the former Sears Home store in the Meadowlands as its fenced off with a work crew on site). Saw the pop-up store in Lime Ridge Mall (former Bowring shop) today. https://teppermans.com/stores/

Upper james Metro to become a Food Basics, as per Hamilton Spectator:

The Metro grocery store in the plaza at Upper James and Mohawk is going to be transformed into a Food Basics starting this summer.
Company spokeswoman Katie Oestreich said the 23 full time and 77 part-time employees at the store were told on May 10 the operation will be closing in mid to late July and be transformed from a full-service grocery store into a discount operation.

The shoe company in the heritage green plaza is closing I was told in july (they don't get the foot traffic anymore ) and an Italian restaurant will be going in the spot

I noticed that the walk-in clinic is still not open when I visited the No Frills store this week .Good to see an IDA pharmacy location-they are not easy to find (there is one in Ancaster on McClure Rd (west side of town past the Walmart/Goodlife fitness plazas) that is named St. George IDA.

@Linda Evans This is the first I have heard about a move but the nearby construction on closed Hughson St. certainly is not helping nor the future LRT line. Probably to some distant plaza where rent is much softer or maybe all stock will go to Upper James st store? Did you see any signs or hear from someone when the downtown store will close? It's location is not the website anymore. Stoney Creek's store at Barton & Centennial Pkwy is a very lovely location-bit far-but it's on the 56-bus route and very tidy.

Coming in the fall- Nov 7-University Plaza's (Dundas) new Canadian Tire store. Some temporary set-up jobs will add to staff numbers.
