whew! I rarely buy any of these granola type things, so thank goodness it was Lara Bars ( 2 singles ) I bought to submit to Caddle. How does Listeria get into everything anyways? Seems to be happening more frequently.

I just read online how it's a good thing that there are more reports of it lately, because of testing they are able to find it before many consumers get ill.
https://www.romper.com/p/why-have-th...ood-sign-11673
Listeria monocytogenes is commonly found in soil and water. Animals can carry the bacterium without appearing ill and can contaminate foods of animal origin, such as meats and dairy products.
When Listeria bacteria get into a food processing factory, they can live there for years, sometimes contaminating food product
More info - US based, but the same would apply here

So today I passed by a grocery store and a young girl was offering samples of Cliff bars - seriously, no joke. I asked her whether she knew about the recalls, and she said the ones they are sampling are likely fine...umm, no thanks!

dot, it's tough - I know I've been cautioning my son, who lives on his own, to just stay away from absolutely anything with sunflower seeds in it.
He then had a funny confession for me - that before he knew about these recalls, he had gone to the store to buy granola bars, but came home with swiss rolls and other sweet stuff instead - lol!

ty for posting the newer brands that are recalled, as you mentioned @Natalka we just should stop purchasing these things period, especially anything with Sunflower seeds it seems? I always think of our grandparents, and other long gone kin, none of them ever needed a granola bar to get through the day? ha ha

Thanks for updating the recall. Feel bad for the manufacturers, have to be so careful where they get their ingredients. Wonder if the sunflower providers are irrigating with contaminated water?

Yup, just nothing with sunflower seeds in them - because there could be more to come...
The seeds were processed by SunOpta Inc. of Minnesota - and the most they say is: discovery of a potential contamination issue which led to a voluntary recall on a limited number of sunflower seeds produced at this facility.
All of the recalled products contained seeds manufactured by Sun-Opta, a Toronto-based sunflower seed supplier.
SunOpta’s president Rik Jacobs said in a news release last week that the company has identified the root causes of the contamination, taken steps to eliminate them, increased its product testing, and resumed operations at the Crookston, Minn. facility that produced the seeds.
