Need help: new user cannot register for the forum

I referred my friend to SmartCanucks, but he is having troubles registering for the forum. We would really appreciate if a mod, or anyone here could help.

Basically he already registered for the forum. He did receive an activation email and did follow the instruction in the activation link. He can log in, but he can't make any post, and it doesn't even allow him to change any settings for the account, giving a "no permission" error.

Anyone here encountered this before?

I don't think his account is working, and I hope this is not a forum-wide bug ... Is there any new member registering lately?

yes, I spoke to a new member yesterday so others have managed to join and post.
If you give me their username I can check the account
