I like this idea too...look for volleyball nets etc if you can't find "fish net."

You might be surprised what you find a local second hand store. Value Village is great for quantity of strange treasures, but I find them expensive now, compared to past!!!

I just posted young yellow zucchini and Swiss chard for sale on a garage sale Facebook group. I already have a lady coming tomorrow to buy $10 worth. I've sold produce to her in the past.

Good morning, everyone - TGIF! And a long weekend to boot!

Hot and humid here already, gah!

Reminds me of our wedding day, 27 years ago - gosh, it was SO hot - at church, it was just horrible, I remember trying to be 'dainty' and wipe off the sweat trailing down my face, melting my makeup, lol!

Thought I would share this with you - quality is pretty poor, but at least we have it. The colours don't show - the women were wearing white dresses, but there were bright sprigs of flowers patterned on them - in yellow, pink, lilac, and teal.
Three priests did the ceremony - the one with the gold vestments is my husband's older brother, the other two are friends.

    Hi all,

Finally (!!!) got internet installed, so I can keep in touch. Needless to say, I'll be out here for a while.

My Mom is still hanging in there, but things have taken a turn for the worse. The last 3 weeks have been tough on both of us. She started getting weak after her second chemo treatment. At first she was still cooking (ok, so she was insisting on teaching me how to make my fav meals - eek!), but last week, she ended up in emergency due to an infection. She was sent home that day (to avoid picking anything else up at the hospital) and was ok at first. She got weaker over the weekend, and homecare nursing was arranged (she needed extra fluids through an IV). Things went from bad to worse yesterday (she was too weak to even lift her head and could barely whisper), so had to call the paramedics. Her heart was racing, so they took her to the closest hospital (a 5 minute walk from here, so better than having to get to the other hospital for me, but bad in terms of not having her history). At this point, she's in hospital on a geriatric floor, but in rough shape. I just got home from seeing her - she's convinced she'll never be able to come home again. bff who's a bit of a pollyanna thinks she'll be home in a week or so. I truly don't know. If she can get over the infection, there's a chance she can come home. Either way, I know that the end is near.

Lily dog and Quincy cat are both restless, they know something is drastically wrong. Quincy actually has been sleeping outside my Mom's bedroom door to keep Lily from bothering her.

Better go make lunch for the brats & myself. A few times this past week, I completely forgot to eat and even a certain roommate's MEEEEE-ow wasn't enough to remind me. Sheesh.

Hope all is well with everyone. Have a wonderful day.

My dad has cancer of the colon - polyp removed....follow up MRI and CAT scans shows no further spread of cancer at this time. Now a specialist has informed dad he should have further surgery just to check the site where the polyp was removed. The decision is his but, after speaking to others in the medical profession, I suggested to him to think about long term. IF they find further cancer, it may spread quickly because of the surgery. Then he would probably need chemo/radiation, maybe further surgery. He is in his mid eighties and has a fantastic quality of life at the moment - still works a few days a week actually. And he has NO health issues. He made up his mind now to let things be and enjoy life. Good on him! and it will save me and him countless out of town trips and a lot of stress. I know he made the right decision!

I lent out a baby gate when I was pregnant last year. I had reminded the teacher to return it to me. I called him again this morning and he had been unable to find the baby gate. He offered to buy me a new one from WM this morning. I told him to just pay me $20 and I'd take care of it. The $20 was in the mailbox when I returned from the park with our kids. I'm happy with that. Our large deck is 4 steps up, so Dh and I continue to discuss whether or not to put a baby gate there. Both babies like to climb up the stairs, but they don't know how to climb safely down yet.

I folded one load of laundry before we headed out this morning. I'll go out to the store this evening to redeem my one day BOGO coupons. Tuesday is 10% off day at Sobeys, which I am looking forward to. It will also be my first day with the 3 daycare brothers, so I'm sure to be exhausted.

That must have been a tough decision, but I sure can understand it given his age - it's actually a very brave choice, now that I think of it.

Hoping for the best for him.
