Glad I'm pretty much dairy free these days

Up until 6 months ago, I was drinking 16 liters of milk a week.....that's no typo. Then I got sick and tired of paying $5.69 per 4L jug so I said to hell with it and stopped buying milk, and switched to drinking water. I used the 'milk money' to put my black lab into doggie daycare once a week in the countryside :) and he thanks me for it.

I found that I get my two servings a day in my milky tea so I don't really need any more milk in my diet..so .cheese, yogurt and sour cream count as total junk food to me and I try to limit them a lot (but I still love them, I just see it all as an unnecessary expense.)

Thanks for sharing this....gosh, prices are going up everywhere, eh? The 'Dollar Store' is now the 4-dollar store....when is it going to stop? I know salaries have not increased anywhere near the percentages of these increases. Even gas was cheaper, but now the powers that be are charging us more taxes. I hear Justin Trudeau is shirtless and in a cave with his family.

I am stocked up on butter but do need to buy hard cheese. Ice cream and yogurt I buy in infrequently so I am not bothered by that much.

Thanks - will want to pick up some butter for sure.

Silk

Butter is already pricey for the premium brands. I've bought store brands when on sale but I've enjoyed using coconut oil too.
When the weather's cold, I will be wanting butter for my toast. Thanks for letting us know more things are going to cost more.

and butter freezes well

What?! How is milk is replaceable by water? Milk is more like a food than a drink to me. I'd drink milk (80 kcal per glass) instead of eating bread (80 kcal per slice), and vice versa. When you are thirsty, you drink milk? That's insane.



I keep hearing food prices going up but I haven't actually experienced it myself. Due to heated competition between supermarkets, you can always get a deal by price matching. My food bill has actually gone down this year due to my pessimism and vigilance. Haven't paid for milk that's over $4.99 per 4L this year. The retailers are absorbing the increase.
