Can we use coupons on clearance items?
Yes!!
Yes I have done that as long as it doesn't exceed the value.....the retailer still remits the coupon.
Yes, but there are a few cashiers that will not accept them.
Also, beware of the dreaded coupon wording 'cannot be combined with any other offer'. Many cashiers (especially at sdm) consider flyer sales, clearances as 'offers' and will refuse on this basis (it is wrong, but what can you do)
Oh I love the lack of training that's clearly taking place and granted a lot of the ambiguity comes from the "legal speak" on these coupons but many of the headaches we couponers experience results from a severe lack of training.
I've actually had a shoppers manager call head office while I waited bc I was frustrated with the fact that I got a different answer from every cashier. No one seemed to know the coupon policy.
The good news.... The store now has a consistent stance and no more of this "limit one coupon per puchase" meaning per transaction nonsense :) small win!

My Shoppers does not allow coupons on clearance item. Does not matter whether I get it for free or pay $10! They say 'its head office policy'
That's what happened to me @Arvilish
The clerk wasn't able to input the coupon so called a supervisor who said no to on clearance.
^ Ya they say head office has 'strict' policy on this blah blah blah!
I don't understand why stores care what we as consumers pay when we use a manufacturer coupon. It drives me crazy...the way they act sometimes you'd think you're taking money out of their very own wallets.
The stores get reimbursed the full value of the coupon plus an incentive (ranges from 1 to 10% of the value of the coupon based on what I've been told).
So what do they care if we want to use a coupon on a clearance priced item?
Ahhhhh!!!!!

My only thought about why denying a coupon on clearance is maybe they didn't order any new stock the previous 90 days.
