Expired on: Thu, Aug 4th, 2016For a list of SDM locations that sell produce, see http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/food-and-home/fresh-food. Currently, they can be found in Toronto, Hamilton, and Regina.
Recently, I've been to two SDMs in Toronto that sell produce and they have banana 3 lb bunches for a regular price of $1.68 (equivalent to $0.56 per lb), which was decreased to that price a few weeks ago from a regular price of $2.49. I'm assuming that $1.68 regular price is the same in all Toronto SDM locations and probably Hamilton. That price is comparable to FreshCo, No Frills, and Walmart, where bananas are regular priced at $0.56 per lb (Food Basics is $0.57 per lb).
The downside is that you might find some of the banana bunches at SDM are less than 3 lb, since you pay per bunch not per lb, and, unlike at SDM, you pay for the actual weight at the aforementioned supermarkets. The upsides are you get at least 10 Optimum points per banana 3 lb bunch (which would decrease its cost to less than $0.56 per lb) and you can buy some reasonably priced banana bunches when you need to spend a few more dollars to reach a minimum spend requirement for a personal offer (e.g. "food or snacks" or "candy or snacks") or in-store event.
If you're a senior or shopping with a senior at SDM on seniors' day (i.e. Thursdays), the banana 3 lb bunches are $1.34 (equivalent to about $0.45 per lb) after the 20% seniors' day discount. Milk is also a good deal on seniors' day: 4 L bag for $3.42 (equivalent to about $0.86 per L; regular price of $4.27).
SDM also has individual bananas for a regular price of $0.49 each, which is obviously not a good deal.
August 4 edit:
The regular price of the banana 3 lb bunches at the two aforementioned SDMs has increased to $2.37 when I went yesterday. This thread is currently associated with: Food Basics, FreshCo, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, PharmaprixLast edited by My two Canadian cents; Thu, Aug 4th, 2016 at 03:11 AM.
