How does Frugalbigmama sound like she's on permanent vacation these days?
There doesn't seem like much that will bring me out to the shops this weekend, so it may just be running errands. I'll need to find some dress shoes for LO, get a new showerhead, and return the ones I picked up. I'll also need to find some little gifts at Dollarama this year.
DH will be off to a bachelor party in Toronto.
I'm a bit unsettled today as I lost my cellphone this morning. No one has turned it in at work and I know I was looking up some reviews on showerheads while in the car. It may have slipped under the seat. Otherwise, I've looked everywhere here and there's no sign of it.

The doctor's office called yesterday. I think they know the gender of the baby.... Now I'm debating on whether or not I want to call in and find out!

You and I can change occupations..even though you are no longer working for CP. You can teach I will carry mail. That should shut us up! lol
Something I often say is that comparison negates our personal successes and challenges. Walk a mile is hard, but I am thankful for people like you who try on the shoes of others (figuratively by listening, supporting etc).Last edited by Granger; Fri, Aug 26th, 2016 at 12:11 PM.

Thank you to @sweet sparrow for relaying the information about Crochetlady passing. I received a call from her niece, Sue, on Wednesday when I was travelling up North for family vacation. Since sweet_sparrow and I had exchanged a few messages en route via text (before she lost her phone ), I asked her to post the information as I could not get to a computer for a few days.
I gave condolences to her niece in person on behalf of us all. It was Crochetlady's request to keep us informed and have her niece call us upon her death. She called us friends. I pray she rests in peace.
I plan to print out some of her posts and condolences and mail them to her family."There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."

Nothing much needed here either. I am going to keep eating from the freezer/pantry & the garden is supplying fresh veggies so it will be some fruit and milk.
We are going to a friends tonight for dinner, the plan was to go out but we all decided staying in was more fun and of course money saving. Monday is Logan's 13th b-day. We do home made cakes so I will make one Sunday and his brother will decorate it Monday while I am at work. We have a number of roasts in the freezer so I think we will do that for dinner. DH will be home to watch it on the BBQ.
DH & I are on a mission to increase the retirement savings so we are looking under every rock. But with 5 b-days and a 50th Anniversary in the next three weeks its not going to be cheap.Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Will be seeing a specialist with my hubby in two weeks. Scan is showing kidney cancer so not good news. Told our kids but not the rest of the family yet but I feel safe saying it here. My mom is not doing well either and pain management is the main concern at the moment. Not much else can be done for her osteoporosis and multiple spine issues due to this. I'm just resting in God's peace and taking it one day at a time. Still no support from one of my siblings in the care of my parents - I had some hope but give up on this. I wish he and his family would at the very least visit them every couple of weeks.

Momof5Boys-I am very sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis-let's hope and pray there is some suitable treatment available for him. It sounds like you have a lot of family health issues to deal with right now-know that you have the support of the SC community-you are so very wise to take one day at a time! We will all be thinking of you and your DH with his upcoming specialist appointment.

ahhh mom of 5 boys -thoughts and prayers for you -hopefully siblings can step in for help with your parents -but then again I have 3 brothers and I did it all for my mom last 7 years(she lived with us) -op and thruout her whole life
-wow how true we should all walk a day in other peoples shoes -postal workers ,teachers ,retail workers -babysitting grandchildren (now that can be hard sometimes -but I still love ashlyn to pieces)
- I worked 24 years in retail -I am just feeling comfortable telling you all that now (and I can tell you my workplace was wonderfull to my needs concerning my dear mother -zellers (my I still miss that store and my family of workers)when my mom had heart surgery -I took the 2 months of summer off to care for her -when she was sick and living on her own -they said to me "go" -I just ran out of work many times -as she had 3 heart attacks etc other health problems
-so when I hear older workers are not happy etc -I loved my job never called in sick unless I was really sick -loved the regular customers -I worked customer service for many years and supervised also
-maybe that's is why I am loving online shopping -I hate going walking thru a mall to shop -like to get what I want and get out

We spent time at the park this morning and ate leftovers for lunch. I was surprised to learn that our location's summer programs ended early. All of my kids and daycare kids took a long nap at the same time. I was able to empty out my truck. We are taking my truck in tomorrow to see how much a dealership in town will offer for it on trade in with active insurance claims. The dealership will make money from doing the repairs, plus the value from reselling my truck. There is a 2015 7 seater van with very low mileage that we are interested in. We will go for a test drive in the morning. Dh will keep his diesel truck. I also folded and put away 4 loads of laundry.

That is a lovely idea, and thank you for doing it. I am sure her family will treasure the condolences and posts. I read back on several of her posts and one particularly saddened me. It was after she had posted she had paid off her credit card, her next plan was to pre pay for cremation. It brought a tear to my eye.

It sounds like you have your head and hands full. My mother in law had a kidney removed due to cancer several years ago and did very well. At that time it was a very large incision which was very painful with a long recovery. My Aunt just had a kidney removed due to cancer as well and oh what a difference on the pain and the recovery time, it was so much quicker because they remove them with laparoscopic surgery so it is far less invasive. It is surprising how well people do with just one kidney. I hope that comforts you a bit.
