I'm looking for a good razor, right now I'm using Gillette Fusion Power and am thinking if there's anything better...gentler?
but then I thought if it's gentler it might not offer a close shave, and if it offers a closer shave it might not be so gentle and cut your skin..?
What do you guys use?
I can say I'v had the worst luck with Schick brand, cut myself very deeply! so many times! no other razor has cut me like this one.
Would love to try dollar shave club but I don't like subscriptions...(is there anything maybe similar if you guys have tried/can recommend?
or anything at all.
and does it matter how many blades a razor has? I always think the more the better..? what do you guys think?

The more blades the more chance of irratation. I agree with seylz_gurl Mach 3 is what my guy uses as well as he hates 5 blades.

I`m assuming you are male just from mentioning Gillette.... however I love Venus Razors the Spa or Breeze kind. They have a soap bar style surrounding the blade so you don`t need shave gel. They come as disposable and the replacement style kind - I don`t find a difference in quality they act the exact same.
I also like BIC Soleil as the bars are quite thinner than a regular razor to do smaller spaces.

Gillette Fusion Proglide here...Proglide is the one with the soap bar and the guy here finds the regular ones without it chew his face up. (He complained to Gillette on that and got a free pack of Proglide.)

You need to keep the blade clean - wipe it off after each use, keep it dry. Discard it regularly. You cut yourself mostly because the blade isn't sharp or there are debris.
I like Venus, for its flat and wide handle. It's easier to hold downwards for shaving legs. The ones for dudes like Pro-glide have small round handles, meant to be held like a toothbrush, can rotate when held downwards.

I like Venus as well but it is so expensive! I ask for it at Christmas. I tried Schick Intuition but like Venus much better. I can't use Bick razors. Also a thick shaving cream makes a big difference I found.

^ Venus is expensive however I`ve been extremely lucky (I found the spa and breeze one on clearance randomly on the walmart website last year for $7.50 per pack, I bought four naturally.. and I still have some left over)
Also gift sets that contain them! Christmas time is great to stock up when they clear out. I`ve never paid $20 for those cartridges.
Like I said above - the "disposable" is literally the same thing, same GOOD quality, I`ve paid $5 for the 3 packs of those just from sales and coupons hanging beside them
A good way to help your razors last (This depends on your body) I use 2 separate razors , one for my legs and my armpits (The skinny BIC kind is fine) because I waxed for years before and my hair is blonde and sparse. So this razor alone lasts a long time
Use the venus kinds for delicate areas

PS. EOS Shave cream is amazing. It's thick and creamy and the pink and white ones smell sooo good. It's expensive but worth it.
The Venus shave gels irritate my skin.

How often do you guys/ladies change your cartridges?/ how many uses do you get out of a single cartridge? I'm wondering.

They are suppose to last a year as long as you store them away from humidity and you dry them. Maybe treat them like a garden tool: stick em in sand and motor oil!
