Well, this is the first two weeks I've had not have to return to the hospital for an infection, so I believe I have that part beaten. I watch a lot of tv, played a lot on an Ipad my niece lent me, couldn't remember my password, or I would have been here a long time ago when this first happened. How did it happen, A thunderstorm was coming in that evening, and one of my pups are terrified of thunderstorms, so I was trying to squeeze out of the sunroom, without letting him escape, cuz he would have bolted, I have a lot of wildlife on my property who would probably love to get him, anyways as I close the door, I slipped, and down I went off the third step. I heard my leg crack as I hit the ground. As soon as I can figure out how to get pictures of the Ipad, I will post pictures of the hardware in my leg now. I go on Tuesday morning to get the last of my stitches out, and hopefully get the order to go to physio. I want to hopefully be walking before Christmas.

LOL....well, RNC, we sure can compare those pictures with your plate and screws!! I had to go back into surgery a few months after my initial surgery because two of the screws were poking into my knee joint, and into the back of my knee...so out they came. You had stitches, spoiled brat! LOL...! I nearly had to wear a Depends when the guy yanked my staples out! And the thought of going through that again very soon is what keeps me awake at night...I hope they really send me into a deep twilight sleep for this next surgery...it'll be the best sleep I'll have had in a month!!
Continued happy thoughts to you for a full and fast recovery, Hon!!

I think I rather have staples then stitches Lynn... After my original 8 hour surgery, I lost count of nurses taking staples out of both sides of my leg at 64... My stitches I think have been in a week too long, think they are going to have to dig them out, but time will tell in a few hours...

Good grief. what a mess you made of yourself. I hope you get up and moving as fast as you want to especially for yourself and your trip to Cuba. It will be a long tough haul from the looks of your pictures which made my stomach roll.
Glad to see you back and on the road to recovery.

{{{gulp}}}...so you've been through the staple-withdrawing, too! Honestly it just seemed midieval and inhumane to me! Maybe it's because of my fibromyalgia that I felt so much pain because I always have that pain somewhere and even little knocks or like now, just leaning my arm on the arm-rests of this chair is hurting, that makes me more sensitive to that pain. I seem to be the only one who complains about how horrible it is!!
You've been through so much RNC, but you're backing out that door now, turning around and facing forward, into that lovely phase called 'recuperation' and physio. But omg, that weight-loss!! Jealous!!!! And quitting smoking! You've really turned a corner to better health, Hon!
Wishing you giant leaps forward as you progress along your path of healing...

Well kids, saw the surgeon today, and family doctor. Stitches are out. Have orders to start physio again. And start putting more weight on my leg. Told me to do it slowly, because he doesn't want me to go fast, and twist and break the leg again, but he does want me out of the wheelchair and on one crutch or cane by the time I see him in six weeks. The family doctor wants me to get a bone density test done... So hopefully up and walking with a can in six weeks.

Yay! Glad to hear it! Hope it didn't hurt too much!
Isn't calcium good to build bones? Doesn't ice cream contain calcium? See how my mind goes?
