There's a problem with the math for the 50K level. It's more like $117
- and that's if we're talking about using those points as part of a usual bonus redemption. Don't forget though, that we have to spend additional money to earn the additional 34,000 pts and 65,000 pts to go along with the points we're getting back (16,000 and 30,000), in order to do a future 50k or 95k redemption

I have this feeling that they are going to change the redemption rates.....don't know why but just a feeling I have. By this I mean you will need more points for the same redemption amount.

I never done bonus redemption before as I don't do/buy big shop or item.
i think this will be last one for this year.
I am hoping that there will be another point conversion (optimum & pcplus) coming soon after this SDM SDM mega redemption as people are trying to use up their SDM points.
I did one conversion from 95000 SDM points for 170000 pcplus points last time and really enjoyed it.
I am holding my sdm points so fingers crossed!

Nor me...and I would have traded all my points. But I had so many so I was not targeted to transfer.

My math is fine, we just look at things differently. I get what you are saying, and totally agree there is money that needs to be spent to get to the top redemption level again, and you may or may not redeem those points at a bonus redemption. But for this past weekend $85 for 34000 points is the same ratio as $237 for 95 000 points. Just saying that's an awesome redemption rate, since you usually get $170 for 95 000 points.

There was one in early April for barely a week-the PC Plus program emailed PC Plus members (selected) about the points conversion. Then in June, the program had the spend your points event that worked for PC Plus members with high points balances.
10000 PC Plus pts for 8000 Shoppers Optimum ($10 redemption level in both programs) or vice versa. There were two other conversion values.Last edited by Ciel; Mon, Nov 28th, 2016 at 08:23 PM.

You wrote:
170÷65x95 = $248. the 50k redemption is really good too! 85÷34x95 = $237
According to that - if I'm understanding correctly what you wrote - that would mean redeeming at the 95k level is only $1 more value than redeeming at the 50K level.
I'm thinking that should read 85÷34x50 (not 95) = $125
I don't have a problem with us seeing things differently and I'm happy with this promotion. I just think you plugged the wrong number in to do the math
ETA - I re-read your post and I see you're talking ratios which makes it confusing, imo. And yes, I do calculate differently, which gave me $117. Let's agree to disagree
ETA#2 Oh, and I see where my amount is 'off' - it would only be $105 if we're talking regular redemption, but for a bonus redemption it's more like $132 ( I mixed the 2 when I came up with $117).

I cannot for the life of me figure out how you got $132. I get the $105, that's just how shoppers advertised it (two 8000 pt $10 redemptions for $20 bonus on an $85 redemption... not that I'd ever do a redemption like that), but your $132 doesn't make any sense. 16 000 points could be worth $27 or $28, or even $42 on a mega redemption, but never $47. Sorry, I'm finding this conversation very entertaining. You had me at "There's a problem with your math..."
So, please explain how you came up with $132. And then we can agree to disagree

Here's the math I did- it's possible I double-dipped and maybe the value is only $125 as posted above (do you agree with that figure?)
50k pts at typical bonus redemption time = $100 / i.e. 1 pt = .002 cents
16K pts x .002 = $32 (if used toward a typical bonus redemption at the 50k level where 50k = $100)
Value will be higher if points are redeemed at the 95k level for a typical bonus redemption where 95k = $200
Like I said, feel free to correct me if my calculation process is wrong. I'm a big girl - I can take it

Thank you for explaining! I agree with the double dipping to get the $132, and that it should probably be $125, a $40 bonus at that particular redemption level ($85 for 34000 points). The value wouldn't actually be higher if you redeem at 95k for $200, since that would only be a $33.68 bonus. The only value that would be higher is if you redeem like we did last weekend, at $170 for 65000, then it would be a $41.85 bonus, not a significant difference.
Thanks for the fun math debate
