how do you feel about the huge ceremony we call a "wedding"..
why do we need a huge costly thing to proove our love and commitment?
is it just a show to feel important?
do you think some people go overboard?

(i have mixed opinions .. i think its beautiful, but sometimes, a bit flakey)

ive heard different opinions on this and would love to hear yours!

I've eloped, and it was nice, but either way it ended in divorce. This time around I am getting hitched with a very unique idea. We are renting out a jazz club for the night and having a free bar. People are welcome to drop in as they wish and give us their blessing, but no one is obligated to stay. It's cheeper in the long run. We already did the calculations, and it is original. I don't want the lavish same ol' as everyone else.
Remember that even though pets are here for such a short time they teach us things we would never be able to learn in many lifetimes on our own.

i think its too much when people go into debt over getting married.
I don't want anything big or over the top at all I want something simple but I want to get a vintage dress or something out of the ordinary I don't like white LOL

what does a wedding symbolize for you? what does it do for you? especially spending an arm and a leg for it, what are you exactly getting that you do not already have?

I've been to a lot of weddings where I just shook my head in disbelief at what I thought the couple has spent.

Still single here, but if I ever get to that point..... I'm in a position where she can have whatever wedding she wants. *However*, I'm hoping she will be practical enough to save the funds for something important.

The day that is supposed to be for the Bride and Groom is so blown out of proportion.

Some weddings are becoming "Keeping Up with Jones".

Personally when my daughter gets married, I hope she wants simple. I rather give her a gift of $$ (enough for a down payment on a house), instead of blowing it on lousy food, and alcohol.

The day is supposed to be romatic and personal and some weddings are so far from that.
