Seems a good week for spotting articles or posts about grief.

Grieving two parents' passings by incorporating regular exercise as part of daily routines as much as possible:

Hamilton's Dr. Kemp Hospice has an August 22 event about the End Journey in Stoney Creek at the Powerhouse Restaurant. RSVP required. Optional workbook available for purchase. https://kemphospice.org/events

If you take transit, the 5-Delaware HSR bus stop is near the Powerhouse restaurant in the old part of Stoney Creek (downtown).

Spotted this Commentary/Opinion article about an encounter between two adults in a cemetery: one, a senior male, the other a young woman. Thought the talk they shared might provide comfort to SCers remembering people they knew who have passed away.

If you know of a family or friend who is nearing the end of their lives, please tell their next of kin or whoever will be estate trustee start compiling where the will and other important documents (and contact numbers/addresses) are. Also perhaps compile a contact list of family and friends to notify when the person dies, so they know.

Seems my father is likely to die (still won't get health care but a few days ago, has trouble walking with one leg, has started to use a cane but seems to be losing some lucidity as well; Mom is taking on hands-on caregiving but she's not in great health) and I know sibling does not know where his and my mother's wills are (I asked recently). I checked one place where he used to carry documents and no luck. I think my father will pass by mid-October if not earlier.
He did not tell Mom about moving the documents but I knew in spring 2017 he had moved them. Mom still has not read her document.

Don't let this happen to your friends and family!

In the November issue of City Parent, I saw an event listing for a breakfast (in Oakville, ON) in relation to children and grief. There is a second breakfast set in Toronto for the following week.

There's a palliative care event in Hamilton next week. If you are in the health care sector and involved in the care of the terminally ill or dying patients or are a student or resident involved in the care of a person needing palliative care, this is the ticketed event for you to hear about recent updates to palliative care.

Noticed that the local health integration network for Hamilton Niagara Halton Brant lists bereavement events (i.e. grief cafes):

Upcoming memorial events for the holidays:

For Halton-Peel Region in ON: http://www.bereavedfamilies.ca/fundraising-events

For South Central ON at the Burlington location of Bay Gardens on Dec. 13 (scroll down the page): http://bfoscr.ca/index.html

London ON tree lighting on Nov. 30 (Scroll down to Angel Tree lighting) : http://bfolondon.ca/events/

Some churches may have Memorial Days (they may be on days other than Sundays) listed on the church calendar through the year. Also look at websites and social media pages for area funeral homes or bereavement groups in your region for memorial services and programs.
