My "bestie" device - my Kindle Fire - which I've had forever! - finally just would not turn on - and I have some irreplaceable photos on it - of my past furry friends and trips my dh and I have taken. - I know, I know, I should have backed them up - but I didn't know how and I am the Queen of Procrastination. Is there any way I can get them back - or turn it back on?? I really don't care about cost (well - I would like to keep from mortgaging my house.)
Also, any comments about replacing it? I actually love it - right size - 90% of the things I need to do.
Many, many thanks in advance! This thread is currently associated with: Amazon.ca & Amazon.com

Try holding the power button for at least 30 seconds.
Sometimes the charger just stops working so try a similar charger to see if it just needs a decent charge.

Thanks, FP - I did try holding the power button - but maybe not long enough - and I'll try a different charger although that one is charging my cell phone just fine.

Thanks, Pixels! Try though I might, I could not find that second charger. Also, I don't know how big a memory stick I will need to capture pictures. I have a 1 megabits and a 2 megabits but I have never used them.

The smallest ones I keep around are 8GB which hold hundreds of high res pics but it depends how big the kindle saves them. There is a place in my local mall that will retrieve files from deal laptops and tablets for $35, hopefully you can find something like that if you are not techy to try various methods yourself

I mb or 2mb are tiny. 8 GB's as FP was saying is a good size. You can usually find USB flash drives and memory sticks on sale. The company make doesn't really matter. Example if you check out Staples, right now they show one that is 16 GB's for $17.92 but you can probably get them cheaper. At Christmas I got one from Staples that is 64GB's for $10 or $20 on sale. Here is a 32 GB one reduced from $30 to $16:

Ends today though.

I wish I could help with your Kindle but I don't have one so I am not familiar with them. My expertise is computers. I give free help to a lot of people on a regular basis such as removing spyware and viruses, running scans and doing updates for them.

Some other issues are pointed out regarding possible reasons that the Kindle may not work (not always the battery at fault).2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
