Our big 2017 goal was to do a kitchen renovation and pay for it upon completion. I am happy to report we are 90% done and it's all been paid for.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Had budgeted to have the full exterior (3 stories) painted as well as second floor deck and dormer stained and front iron fence painted. All done. Was only $400 over budget as chimney needed some repair and the painter took care of that before painting the chimney, saving us thousands by not needing to get a bricklayer for a small job.
All done. No more exterior painting for at least 15-20 years and I will be on some beach by then. Lol.

Budget clean up day. Moved $100 forward for groceries.
Put extra on my credit card so it will have a credit on it for the few groceries I pick up today.

Continuing the battle with the grocery budgets... since we are doing a fair bit of camping with family this month, I'm finding I'm going to be spending closer to $700 this month.
Making peace with the fact that we are not going to have all the debt gone before our mortgage is up for renewal in October... instead we are replenishing the emergency fund after finding out we had to replace a broken sewer line . I'm still hopeful we can knock a good chunk of the vehicle loan out before the end of the year.

Budget clean up day!
So far moved $100 into the account I set up for DS's Grade 8 Grad and Ottawa year end trip
Have been stocking up on groceries with change/winnings from casino lol so haven't been using my credit cards at all. Even filled up with gas the other day and paid cash. Will take some of the cash and put a credit on my card so I can start using it again and collect PC pts.

Cleaning up the budget today.
Paying the balance owing for property taxes this week.
Credit cards paid in full.
Starting to look into flights for trip south in Feb. Thinking I am going to get the best deal now. My oldest can't confirm if he can come so thinking I will just wait and if he can come book his flight last minute.

I did a couple of small frugal things yesterday-called our cable company to see if I could get the channels I wanted for less and I will be saving $13 per month. Also called Presients Choice as I had bought a block of their extra old white cheddar on Sunday and when I tasted it, it was very mild-so either it was mislabelled or not properly aged. Anyway I phoned them and they told me to get another one at the store-which wouldn't really do much good as I am sure the whole current batch is affected. I asked them to mail me a coupon or a cheque so I could buy another package in a couple of weeks. They said they don't do that and when I pointed out that Kraft would mail you coupons and pushed them a bit they said they would credit 7,000 pts to my PC plus account which seemed fair as I did not get the product I paid for.
On the other hand we paid out about $7500 for the reminder of DD's tuition and room and board for this semester so overall not a frugal day-but budgeted for and she paid some of it with earnings, grants and scholarships.
Today I am finally recovered enough, after 4 months of rehab, to start a Pilates class with my physio-no doubt I will be feeling it tomorrow!!

Keeping on budget! Was tempted to use my PC pts to pay for groceries on the weekend but resisted. My points are going up again slowly now that I have started using that credit card again.
Since I won some money at casino I am going to put my "fun money" in savings account. I am keeping the casino cash in my wallet but will not spend it crazy. Trying to lay low the next while but still stocking the house up on essentials on great deals.

Starting my school cash jar today. Taking $40 cash out of bank. Sept till June is $400.00. This money is for anything school related. School trips. Pizza money etc. (DS has Ottawa trip this year but I have an account that I put money in for this each month already so guessing he won't have many other day trips). Let's see how much I have in the jar the last day of school.
