Good Morning, folks! Good thing I realized yesterday that our Bistro (free meals) would be closed today and so would Zehr's! Will be going to Waterloo Park for Labour Day celebrations - My friend's band will be playing. "Solidarity Forever!" "Bread and Roses."

This Labour Day is proudly presented by Union efforts on behalf of workers. You're welcome!

A good afternoon to all on the last long weekend of the summer ( insert crying here! )
I've been switching back and forth between being totally sedentary.... sitting in my recliner chewing my lip, listening to the CD but following along in the 3rd GOT book and then suddenly leaping up and doing something physical ( today it was removing the brown Death By Chocolate paint from the wooden handrail that runs the length of the basement stairs.

Used the roughest sandpaper I could find, wrapping pieces around handheld blocks, but eventually used the sheets as is.
So much paint! So much mess.
When I had applied this colour a few years back it seemed so rich and lovely, but too many times we had brought furniture up and down these stairs and too many times parts were scraped away.
I'm still not done., however cleaned up everything and hopped into a much needed shower.

Got back to my book and sipped a second coffee....ahhhh that felt so much better!
I'll get the last of that paint off the railing, there is always tomorrow! ha ha
What to do with it next?....perhaps just leave the wood as is.

Take in all the lovely sunshine today if that is your goal, mine is to relax again.

@walkonby ...um...you can buy new handrails out there in the wild, ya know. Much less work, although perhaps not as satisfying. Are you going to bring in that blue from the outside since you have so much paint left?

Back from camp and a lovely weekend! We celebrated our DD's new and final level in her field, a CIM, and lots of people were coming over to congratulate her...yep, this proud Mom may have mentioned it to a few friends... The weather was perfect, none of that searing heat anymore although it did rain overnight which wasn't predicted, so most of us left early.
Although I love the fall, I'm certainly not looking past it one single bit! At lease the season of road construction is almost over!!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday weekend!!!

Seems like the trade is really working out. For the Braves.

Josh Donaldson and Johan Camargo hit two-run homers as Atlanta Braves beat Toronto Blue Jays 6-3.

Today for labour day I went to the gym. Did 40 mins of my ddp yoga and weights. Then 35 mins on the treadmill. Also my eating was pretty good today. I hope everyone had a good long weekend. Tomorrow I’ll be back at the gym for spin class and some weights. Then to the store to top up some veggies and fruits.

yuk, yuk, yuk @Lynn49 yeah I know we can just replace that wooden hand rail but what fun would that be?
DH vote ( as if he has one....bwahaha!! ) was to urethane the thing once it is au naturel again and smooth as a baby's bottom. Initially he thought I might use some of the brown paint that I outlined the trim on the garage with but like you I suggested using the colour we have more of....the BLUE!!
That's when he returned out front to trim back the apple tree.
My tree is now 1/3 of the size it was!!
    DS +DH + chainsaw = OMG!!

While those 2 were busy I decided we needed homemade fresh lasagna noodles.
The dough was made and chilling, so I started the meat sauce and grated the cheeses.
These fresh noodles boil up in like 3 minutes!
Filled a disposable aluminum ( deep ) pan 8 layers high. The only green thing I had to add in the layers was fresh picked basil leaves.

It's still too hot to cut and have any just yet.....sigh.

Yes, and all I've got to say on that subject is 'ugh'. I wanted them to go back to school about as much as they wanted to go back to school. But, since I don't have the patience for home schooling, there they are

Good morning, friends! Starting my 15th year of retirement from school. Didn't even wake up before "the bell" this morning. I'm going to a Virtual Reality Demonstration this morning. I had better get moving. A foggy morning here.

My God, the Bahamas is taking such a beating!
How traumatizing for anyone there even before they can see the damage.
