@avoncallinu, may I ask why you're removing the original covering in the back? If it's vintage, and I suspect it is, it's more valuable to leave it as is.
Wrt getting things matted and framed, good heavens, buying a mat that suits it, then plopping it into a frame that fits it! Much less expensive than paying someone else do it.
Happy b'day to your BrotherB!Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Jul 3rd, 2020 at 07:42 PM.

Good morning friends!
Happy 4th of July! I pray that caution will prevail in the celebrations down south. Full moon and eclipse tonight. Everything is aligned to cause chaos!
@Lynn49 - all I am removing is some old, dry masking tape. I bought this print at an Art auction probably 40 years ago when I was young and "rich". 🙄 Is that vintage? I do worry about the mat because it is probably not acid-free.
But I don't know if I can find a mat that is 3' X 2'.
Sad news yesterday- our Michael's store which was just down the street was closed - as in shut down - kaput- without warning. Glad I had NOT taken my picture in!
Well, I have a restless puppy so I should take her out. Only 21° right now.
Enjoy your day!Last edited by avoncallingu; Sat, Jul 4th, 2020 at 08:51 AM.

Good morning!
Gorgeous day here, SIL'S birthday lunch, so it'll be busy.
@avoncallingu , if your vintage picture is precious, it likely will have been acid-free, paper, matting, etc. However, Michael's (if there's another nearby) will cut a mat to fit any picture and frame. Just bring them in, they'll measure them, then cut your choice of mat. Any framer will do that since many people want to retain vintage frames. The last one I had them do, years ago, cost me under $20.
Btw, "vintage" is an iffy term, but it usually refers to items 20+ years old, and preferably used as "vintage 1950s" etc.
Over 100 years old is antique.
Enjoy your day, everyone! I hope it's as beautiful where you are!Last edited by Lynn49; Sat, Jul 4th, 2020 at 09:19 AM.

Thank you, @flemeth ...we couldn't have asked for a better Son-in-Law!
Relaxing is the way to go, particularly these days of "stranger danger" out there.
Enjoy your day!

A perfect weekend once again! ( weather wise )
I likely will refrain from too much time outside, but a little R & R with refreshments under the very sturdy ( new ) gazebo is the plan when my sleepyheads get up. @flemeth seems we have much the same planned.
Yes @Lynn49 Happy celebrations and wishes to you SIL. Seems your DD and you both had good judgement when it came to hubby selection. Life is so much easier when everyone actually enjoys being together. It can be rare with MIL, FIL, etc.
I used to call my in-laws " outlaws " , but that was to make DH laugh!

Thanks @flemeth . The kids have the fans, DH and I can suck it up. I'll have to call tomorrow to set up an appointment. It's nearly 20 years old, I wasn't expecting it to last this long

@GoJays o.k. lady, who'd ya piss off? Mother nature ? or the Sun God? ha ha
I relate to the timing of your A/C dying on one of the hottest days....after all one of our dogs was named Murphy for that very reason ( Murphy's law )
We EXPECT things to go sideways at the worst times.
Hope the schedule to get a new one installed goes smooth.
Ours was installed in 1988....and like your DH, @flemeth we're not willing to disturb or replace it but DO expect it to go kablooey any day!
I went out to the front deck very early this morning intending to lounge on the cushioned chairs with my coffee, and to my annoyance ( but I secretly giggled ) our resident chippy ( chipmunk ) got into the window boxes and buried some of the nuts DH has been leaving out for him.
That would have been fine if he hadn't dumped a cup full of the soil all over my pretty powder blue cushions! What a little scamp!
Hmmmm, I shouldn't laugh.....my single, very tall giant sunflower in the bed along the path is about to sprout the flower any day
( I've been eagerly anticipating it ) but I just found this pic of an equally adorable pest munching away on one!!
Oh no!! He had better not dare touch my sunflower!
Everyone have a fab day!!
