You aren't alone, @Silk ...we like what we like, right? As to the fruit, I agree, they're not the softly dried fruits that we can purchase for our fruitcakes, they are more jelly-like but I'll forgive them that...I would like them to have only raisins, though. I think, having been raised Ukrainian, my Mom, who was an incredible cook and baker, would lace her Paska with raisins and omgosh, it was always so amazing! I baked them a few times, and although everyone loved them, nothing really ever comes out exactly like Mom made. So NO chocolate! I'm simply not a fan of any chocolate...I mean I don't hate it, it's just not something I crave. But put me in front of a bowl of chips and they'll be readily inhaled!!
Hubby just brought home 2 containers of lightly salted cashews...SEE? How can I behave when he brings home things like that?!!
BTW....may I ask how you came to use "Silk" as your name? I'm intrigued.
My filled wontons are cooling on their racks and thank goodness I had enough filling for a half dozen "treats" for Hubby and I. I mean isn't quality control inportant??? I had a recipe but of course I did my own thing, using it as a base I made....
1 1/2 bricks of cream cheese (don't use the light)
1 frozen, thawed, squeezed block of spinach
1 1/2 C of feta
a bunch of shakes of Frank's Red Hot sauce
1/3-1/4 cup dried onion flakes
1 egg.
Mix everything up, THEN add the feta to keep it in nice little chunks instead of blending them to oblivion.
Place wonton wrappers into 24 regular muffin tins, using a rounded bottom of a shot glass to help with that, fill and bake @ 350 for 13-15 minutes.
No need to pre-bake the wrappers. You can fill as much as you need, it won't puff over the wrappers.
Easy-peasy!!
Hubby will flash-freeze them, then pkg them up for Christmas grazing day. They'll just need a few minutes in their muffin tins to warm through.
There!! Just in case anyone needs another appy!
Now it's resting time, I'm done for the day. Which is perfect, since I have about a gazillion movies pvr'd!

Round 2 (Round 1 was this morning which took me awhile to write then it disappeared!!!)
@Silk please accept my condolences. It was very kind of you to reach out to your family and make the donation that you did Often people don't do anything because they don't know what to do.
@GoJays I had to think about today's memes to get them! I chalk it up to brain freeze because of the wind chill here today.
@Lynn49 I hope that your day improved from this morning. I appreciate your last post about illness
it is so true and some people don't get it!
I am prone to fractures and unfortunately I believe I did something to my Left foot judging by the pain. But hey there are others that have it worse.
Gotta go as battery drained and I do not want to loose two posts in one day!!!Always remember the What are you thankful for today? thread as there always is something to be thankful for.

@Skippy - Thank you - I really appreciate your thoughtful words. My brother and I usually chip in and send a floral arrangement but considering how pricey it is to do that (cost us $130US the last time, a couple of years ago) and wasteful, I thought I would rather see the money put to better use, especially since the wake will only be 2 hours. Turns out I wasn’t the only one asking about making a donation instead of sending flowers so the shelter will be getting a nice helping hand
Btw, Skippy - I read your messages about disappearing posts - frustrating isn’t it! It’s happened to me more than a few times. Now what I do when I have a longish post is to write it in my word processing program then copy and paste it into a post. The formatting has to be tweaked a bit - line breaks will be lost etc. but it beats having to re-write the entire thing. And let’s face it, it’s easier to say never mind or post only a fraction of what we wanted to say
@Lynn49, oh so you do like Pannetone with raisins. I’m not a raisin person - but I do love dried cranberries I’m not a chocolate fanatic, although I love a good chocolate brownie - not the fudgey ones, but the ones more cake like! - but it sounds like I like it more than you do. But I have a weird sensitivity to caffeine so I have to watch any chocolate intake at night or it will keep me awake. I share your weakness/love for chips, and for cashews - I like mine roasted to a deep tan colour and nicely salted I also like them raw /natural. But if they are only lightly roasted, I eat them grudgingly or I roast then further myself. A therapist would have a field day with me! Btw, I’ve had mixed experiences with feta but your wonton appetizers (?) sound good
As for how I picked Silk for my username - honestly, I was just looking for a name that was short and quick and easy to type. I’m a touch typist (had temp jobs as a typist, then secretary) so one typing stroke for the *S* with the left hand while I press the shift key with my right pinky and 3 letters close to each other for the right hand. In retrospect I supposed I could have gone with *Lil* for 3 letters with just one hand, or if I wanted to stick to 4 letters with one hand, I could have gone with *Milk* lol - except it is easier for me to press the shift key with my right pinky than the left pinky. Good thing I didn't pick that - it would be kind of a dumb username especially for someone who doesn’t drink milk yada yada And that is how *Silk* came to be. Now aren’t you sorry you asked?! 🤗 @Silk , what a brilliant way to choose a name! I'm also a touch typist and I absolutely get why you chose that pretty name. So did we both take typing in high school? Lol! I'm on my tablet right now, watching the NFL game, but when I'm on our desk top I just fly along! Then make my corrections.
I am thankful for this ability, though. As I am with autocorrect.most of the time.
I have never typed ' duck it'.
What a good idea you gave @Skippy , to solve the disappearing post problem! Much easier to make a few adjustments than lose an entire post!
Wrt appetizers, this year we're replacing our traditional Christmas dinner with rounds of appetizers through the day. @walkonby is the voice of e experience with that, so when our Daughter suggested it, I knew right away it would work. I'm also bringing chili because I cannot live on appys alone. For a very UNtradditional year, a very UNtraditional dinner. Unwrapping gifts takes quite a while also, as we unwrap individually. We always have our get togethers at the kids' home as it's large enough so that we can have the space to spread out, although we've all been OCD these days wrt covid. And we only have 11 cases here mostly in nursing homes and family pods.
What about everyone else on here?
How and with whom will you all be celebrating Christmas??Last edited by Lynn49; Thu, Dec 17th, 2020 at 11:44 PM.

I felt so much better after watching this....you might too!! Beats watching the news.
Beautiful ( but cold-ish ) morning out there for us. Just placed a " world's best meatloaf " in the oven to bake....recipe is from Jenny Jones, the one who got us through the early lock-down phase with her no knead bread baked in a cast iron dutch oven.

Good refreshing morning! aka: not going out there today, that's for sure!
-6, so not exactly a deep freeze, but thankfully we have no where to go.
Had fun this morning turning around a 9x10 rug in our living-room, vacuuming everything (Hubby, not me, I wore a mask), and from here on is, it's a day of rest. Might order something from "Skip the Dishes".
@walkonby, thank you for that sweet video; why can't humans be more like those souls we call, "animals"??
Mmmm...meatloaf: one of my favourites!!!
@GoJays, love that card wrt to uninvited door-knockers, although they've thankfully disappeared into their homes for now.
Enjoy the day, everyone!!!
