Chat-a-Thon 2017-18 Thread!

Sleepyheads? Not I, I was out filling the gas tank, then over to NF before 8:30 this morning.
We will now have a faux " early " Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. Last minute delightful change, DD can be here, if only for the meal and a few hours after, then it's back to the grind for her.

Now my heart is full. Atm I have 3 sugar pumpkins baking, after they cool down I'll diced them into chunks and freeze in sandwich sized bags for DD to take back home with her. ( she uses that in so many recipes ).
I am also making 2 sort of new things, ( for late tonight when she arrives! ) a butternut squash ravioli, using fresh Olivieri lasagna sheets. Plop down the small scoops of filling on one layer, run my wet finger all around each bundle, lay the top sheet over to seal each ravioli, cut out each with my fancy pasta cutter wheel.

Also a fresh batch of spring rolls! Filling them with cooked ground pork mixed with chopped spaghetti squash, fine diced green onion, celery leaves, soy sauce and rice vinegar. Mmmm.

Anyhow I am just having a break here until the spaghetti squash is cooling and the pumpkins are baking, smells nice already in here! Have a great day all!

I'm so thrilled for you, @walkonby , that your darlin' DD will be home for a Thanksgiving dinner!! Everything sounds lovely!!
I hope you get to try those recipes I sent you one day...I"ll let you know how those potatoes turn out when our DD makes them for our Saturday Thanksgiving dinner!
Everything you make sounds so scrumptious...perhaps one day we'll drop over for dinner! Hahaha!!! Well....who knows, right? Perhaps the world will right itself one day.

It's amazing to watch Highway Thru Hell and the difference just a couple of hundred Km makes: from snow to almost balmy weather!!

I do hope it melts very soon!!

I'm in northern BC, not far from the AB border. I just looked it up - our elevation is 665m. There is still a bit of snow on the ground, but I expect (hope) it will melt in the next day or two. Then I'm hoping for wind and warmth so we can clean up the yard and rake up the leaves to use as mulch!

Lots of catchup reading.
My reasons for being AWOL - mostly tablet related. It's a bugger to type on sometimes - either types extra letters or just won't accept my touch; more lately it's not been charging properly, that is frustrating. I know it's old, but can't afford a new one.

Health wise, crappy full stop, mostly arthritis in knees, hips and hands. Psoriatic arthritis sucks, well all types do! Not been able to stand at all. Not even an attempt works. I have been keeping body moving as much as possible, though - lately a lot of scootching which keeps my arm muscles and legs at least doing something other than my traditional leg exercises, which I still do.

We have had horrible smoky air from forest fires northeast of here, warnings the last three days - sun is a gloomy red grey ball. It's an odd time of year to have this problem. Temps have been just over 20, but we are to get a few hotter days of 30. Now it's 26.



Hope you all are doing well, very busy I see after reading all the posts I missed.

I am busy, busy prepping the final things for our 5:30 sit down. Celebrate Thanksgiving when you can is my new motto!
DD is here, so we are 4 for the meal.
So bursting with happiness ( inside feeling ones ) that I can hardly type anything that makes sense.

Now that everyone is grown, we have adopted that same attitude.

Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Years is whenever we darn well say it is (and have time to celebrate.) So what if it is a day late or early? It's when we have time to gather.

Absolutely! Except for Christmas, celebratory dinners are usually on Saturdays since the kids like a day of rest, lol, before they go back to work, even though our DD works from home and our SIL takes Mondays off...it's become our tradition.

NO caramel vodka here?!! Hubby just called from the LCBO...who needs watermelon vodka in the fall??!...now I'll have to infuse regular vodka with caramels.
First world problems...
