Good day my friends from God’s county northern Ontario! The sun is brightly shining on the lake surrounded by evergreens and the sound of loons! Without them the silence is deafening!
All part of DS Canadian summer experience with thanks to DD in-laws hospitality!Always remember the What are you thankful for today? thread as there always is something to be thankful for.

hello fellow Friday sc dwellers! All is better on the tummy front for me. I guess that was food poisoning? It just did not fit into any other category.
Try as we might, we can only " guess " what I ate to have caused this. My first instinct was to blame the small 40 grams of Ricotta cheese I spread on my toast in the morning. Even though the BB date was fine, this container had been opened about 10 days ago, and it really did have a very faint pale yellow colour to it. No mold though, so I went for it. lol.
No matter, I got some help around the house and with the grocery shopping as well, since my right wrist also was out of commission, swollen, no grip, could not drive. It all worked out I guess.
The vows did say " in sickness and in health " so I'm using that clause to my full advantage....hee hee
Have a terrific weekend to all who have travel plans, and an update here....we are now baby " mourning dove " free. Both babies have flown off to start their own lives. This morning in my news feed was the announcement of the birth of a new baby hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo! Does it get any cuter!?
This one is a sibling to an older hippo ( Fiona ) who was born premature and only weighed 20 pounds at birth ( they usually weigh 100 ) , this newest one weighs about 60, and has gotten a positive healthy assessment so far.

Good morning, @Skippy , it really is God's country, isn't it? Here on the island we have 2 beaches, Sunrise and Sunset and visitors usually make plans to watch the sunsets on that beach; they're quite spectacular over the water. Enjoy your visit! Where might you be, actually?
Sad BlueJay game for sure, @walkonby , but it was so funny....we were watching the Jay's in 30 or whatever it's called, and just started the top of the 10th while I was reading your email and got to the part about their loss! Lol! I laughed and was tempted to tell him how it ended, but thought he'd want to watch for himself. But how funny!
It 'feels like' 31 already here, DD and the gang are playing another game of volleyball, it was hilarious watching them yesterday, with our GS playing so well also, his serves usually result in scores for the boys team. The girls ultimately won. Such great fun, then all off to the beach for the afternoon. Then after dinner they all played KanJam until quiet time, 11pm. Yep, you can be as lazy or busy as you want to be here, lol!
I hope you all enjoy your day, too. As for me, it's not a good fibro day so I took a couple CBD gummies to help with the pain before I can even get into the shower.
Enjoy the day, everyone, and HAPPY FRIDAY !

Canada really is beautiful. One thing I’ve taken away from this pandemic is how much I want to travel in my own country. I mean, people come from all over the world to visit Canada so I need to take advantage of it. Now, if only hotels and such made it more reasonable to afford to spend your money in Canada . I’m still planning a trip to Switzerland…..some day.
Another bucket list trip is to drive across Canada. I’ve always wanted to see the East ( I have family in NS).
Curious about what is on everyone else’s travel bucket list? Canada or abroad?

@harbie : I agree.Canada is beautiful. Many dream places to visit and to discover.I would choose Canada for now as I dont have my passport for now and it still seems trouble to obtain one..But later my bucket list is outside Canada

@harbie for many years I dreamed we'd go to Hawaii but over time that desire has waned. Now my wish is to rent a large RV and for DH and I to drive down East! I've only been to Newfoundland once way back in 1987 for a Canada Post Hockey Tournament, so really all I saw was the ice rink and some bars.....lol.
It is so hot! No complaints allowed though as we enjoy Central Air. Inside Day!

Good morning, everyone!
@harbie , being the age we are, we've knocked a few things off my bucket list....the Pyramids in Cairo, Egypt; Rome; (and because we took a cruise from Italty, Greece, Turkey, Egypt) a Packer's game at Lambeau Field; the Cherry Blossom and Japanese Festival in Washington, DC; New York City (3x); Disneyworlď many times because I'm a sucker for that "happiest place on earth"; we've driven to the west coast; we'll all be going to Punta Cana in the Dominican this Christmas.
Still on my bucket list: the Rose Bowl Parade!
But we've never been to the east coast and I'd love to do a hop on, hop off train trip there, drive to NYC, then fly home.
We are getting old, though, so I'm not sure if those can still be in our futures.
Dd is heading home today, her Hubby will be arriving after his golf weekend with 27 friends in the Muskokas somewhere, then they'll continue to stay and we'll head back home tomorrow.
The weather has been very hot, 'feels like' 40 the past couple of days, but keeping to the shade, a cooling breeze off the lake, made it bearable instead of just sitting inside.
Otoh, KanJam in the sun was too much fun to complain about being in that heat, lol!
Rain all day here today.....
Enjoy whatever nice surprises are in store for you today!Last edited by Lynn49; Sun, Aug 7th, 2022 at 09:55 AM.

Good morning everyone. Happy Sunday
@harbie I love road trips . I don’t drive so the task usually be up to my DH and DDs . We usually enjoy our adventures . Didn’t do one in a couple years . Only yesterday I was telling the family let’s do one going to Vancouver but I was told that that trip we will be flying . I have always wanted to go there .

@Lynn49 I’m super jealous of your Egypt trip. That actually was my next destination after backpacking through Europe but then I met my Dh .
I’m like you @flemeth I love road trips, especially nowadays. I might be a bit biased but Vancouver is awesome but Vancouver Island is stunning ( HIGHLY recommend Tofino).
I’ve been fortunate enough to have done some travelling in my younger days (not that I’m that old now). I’v
been to Denmark 2x ( have family there), France, Germany, UK, Mexico and of course the USA (Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona). I’m content doing road trips but still want to see Switzerland and haida gwaii .

greetings to the 2 of you^^^ .
The heat wave(s) are....er....um ...a challenge but I will not complain. This weather gives my guys the perfect reason NOT to be slugging out in the backyard ripping up the 2nd half of the deck. That work can wait.
Monday again so soon....pfft! It just seems like it was Friday like 2 days ago? hee hee
For those of you on annual vacation or playing hooky OR retired....hooray!!
Stay inside today. Cool those jets.
