Good morning!
@GoJays, your first post about mangoes and oranges is so bang on, it’s not even funny…iykwim…there’s so much anger in a certain country since that orange guy appeared on the scene. I’ve read that this year of the bunny brings in a kinder, more respectful time…we can only hope. I agree with @Purdee… your posts with morning coffee is now a ritual. How’s that for pressure?
Brutal cold morning! -21, Hubby’s not going to his guitar lesson this morning, there’s a lot of snow-blowing to do.
February’s last phhhtttt! to us!
Stay safe, everyone!

We're hosting an Easter dinner for 8 here and I'm already giddy, searching online for any new pastel coloured dessert items I can try. I've found a few things that could work and will be a nice change from all the " been there done that " things I've served over various Christmas, birthdays and Thanksgiving get together's.
DH and DS insisted on doing ALL the main food ( which means MEAT! ) which allows me to play around with sugar, flour, anise, chocolate, fruits, coconut and those beautiful pastel food colourings! Woo hoo

Good morning everyone!
@walkonby , how about embellishing your desserts with something like this? I have the sheets here, so will give it a go. I don’t care for using rice to glue the two petal pieces together, I’m going to make the larger and smaller ones separately then glue them together with frosting. Rice! Bleh.
I’d like to place one on each serving of the flourless chocolate with the cousins and fresh raspberries for DD’s b’day. Maybe a raspberry in the centre of each flower? Lol!
I know you’ll enjoy the planning those desserts as much as I would!

@Lynn49 YES!! Thank you! I had forgotten all about those rice paper flowers. I watched a different tutorial after the one you posted and she just placed a finger tip of water in the centre of the bottom circle and laid the top circle over, pressed down firmly until the 2 pieces stuck together. Better than rice. I am going to experiment with making some small flowers, also going to attempt to colour the circles before I fry them.....pastel colours....weeee! I am giddy all over again.
Earlier today we had one of the most exhausting ( because we kept making each other laugh ) lunches with my sis and BIL. The drive into downtown T.O. was worth it. Lunch was so satisfying, the servers were especially attentive and so patient with us as we were unfamiliar with their menu. My sis and BIL have become repeat customers, so they suggested a few things to enjoy. I ordered 2 appys for DH and I to share, fried pot stickers and spring ( all veggie ) rolls, my main dish was beef skewers over vermicelli noodles, but what was a nice twist was the fresh cucumber, carrot, bean sprouts and tomatoes in my dish! Accompanying sauces were delicious!
DH played it safe with a BLT and a salad. ( o.k. Boomer, lol ) This place had regular all day stuff ( breakfast ) , plus burger fare as well as some tasty Asian cuisine. How can ya go wrong with that varied of a selection?
We shared a piece of Dulce de Leche Cheesecake and even my coffee was surprisingly good for a restaurant that would not be rated as a fancy place. Gotta do this again.
