Happy start of the work week all. Question: has anyone ever lost their petcock?
I was beside myself this morning after pressure cooking up the soaked beans for the chili.
They only require 5 minutes to fully cook and not be mushy.
After allowing the steam to escape, I removed the petcock and drained the beans in the sink.
It was when washing out the pot and lid that I realized the petcock was NOWHERE!!
Panic only set in when I had traced my steps over and over. Then VOILA!
I looked at the huge bowl of chili sitting on the stove and took 2 slotted spoons to go petcock
fishing. It was there! Buried deep in the bottom of the bowl.
Sure I can laugh about it now BUT.....what if heaven forbid one of the guys had scooped up a
serving to reheat and that damn metal thing went into our microwave?
Disaster thwarted. Whew!

Good day flemeth. Seems so quiet at this point, I do have to fill the vehicle with gas but not feeling the urge to get dressed just yet.
On August 8th I bought a bunch of bananas and intentionally bought them as unripe as possible ( green ) so they would not ripen too
early. This morning they are rock hard and still green?? Well....I've now learned something about bananas that I never knew before.
Apparently these are ungassed bananas.
Google told me this:
Ungassed bananas have not been force-ripened by packing them with ethylene gas while being shipped.
If you put the bananas in a cloth or paper bag, they will naturally produce ethylene and become ripe.
I told DH and he never heard about this either. We've placed them in paper bags to see if they will ripen.Last edited by walkonby; Wed, Aug 14th, 2024 at 07:14 AM.

ty @flemeth I had already left for FreshCo before I read this post of yours. Went mainly for the sale celery, green onions and butter ( no butter left, got a raincheck ). We have a very large pork loin in the freezer atm and the last tray of skl/bnl chx breasts in there DH is planning on using to make chicken Parmesan for the weekend. He'll want to make his usual pot full of pasta with meat sauce to go with the Parmesan so I grabbed him 3 small trays of the ground beef/pork mixture marked down to $4.00 each. Another good find was the Boursin soft cheese was on sale for $4.99, I grabbed 4.
When paying I had no idea I had $30.00 in Scene money to reduce my bill with! yahoo!
On the drive back I heard on 680 that gas will drop 3 freaking cents at midnight!! of course it will since I filled right up before hitting FreshCo.
Save on one hand, pay out more with the other.....Last edited by walkonby; Wed, Aug 14th, 2024 at 11:41 AM.
