@Lynn49
- hurrah for rhubarb! I absolutely adore it, but we have none here. I try to buy some every year.
Back in the olden days (insert eyeroll here) when I was a kid, rhubarb was one of the things we could scavenge from the garden and snack on as we played. Mom didn't like it when we pulled the small, sweet carrots to eat!
I like it raw, dipped in sugar, I also make a few kinds of squares with it. My son loves those!
Speaking of plants, husband had left for work, then came back in. I asked if he had forgotten something, but he pulled out some lilacs from behind his back! They aren't totally flowered out yet, but sure smell heavenly. By week's end I will have bouquets of them all over the house!
It was really hot last evening, but overnight was okay.
It's going to be 32 today! Gah!
Hope you all have a wacky and wonderful Wednesday!
(p.s. Send rain!!!)

Way to go with the weight loss, lady! It is a chilly, grey, wet day in my part of SW Ontario. After watching so much coverage of the terrible weather and flooding in the Midwest, however, I am not disposed to complain. I am going to be making my "famous" chunk chili today, and I've posted it below. I may also post it in the "I eat meat" thread because I don't think many people here frequent it. :-)
5-6 pounds boneless beef roast, cut into chunks
6 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 large yellow onions, chopped
3 cups beef stock
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce or 1 10 1/2 oz canned of chopped tomatoes
12 ozs beer
6-8 tbsp. chili powder
3-4 Ancho pods
2-3 tbsp. paprika
3-6 tbsp. cumin
1 tbsp. oregano
3 tbsp. cider viegar
1-3 diced jalapeno chiles, double if no Anchos
salt to taste
Normal toppings/sides to select from: cheddar cheese, pinto beans, tortilla bread or chips, fresh onion, avocados
Sear the beef chunks in batches in a bit of fat in a big pot. Add the garlic and onion, and heat through for a few minutes. Add stock. Simmer. Meanwhile, put all seasoning into frying pan with a bit of water or stock and simmer for 15 minutes to blend the flavors. Add seasoning mix to the pot, and simmer for at least an hour...but much longer, if you wish. In the last 20 minutes of cooking, add jalapenos and vinegar. It will taste best the next day.

@avoncallingu, I'm making a "scrappy" quilt, which means that it's made from all the bits left over from projects, plus the 100-200 5" squares that I ordered from aliexpress. For about $5, lol. It's just for camp on chilly nights, or a cuddle blanket there for Jenny and I. I'll post a pic if its worthy of public scrutiny. :)
Egg white sandwich?!?! :yikes: Eat the whole egg, Darlin', the yolks have no detrimental effect on our cholesterol! :)
@Natalka
...omgosh, YES to that scissors meme!! Even the kids knew not to touch my sewing scissors way back then! :)...I'll trade you some rhubarb for lilacs!!:rolleyes:

Well
@Natalka
your posts from yesterday and today were just wonderfully positive!! I am thrilled you got Nellie back. Along with getting back on your cbd oil and enjoying that lemon meringue pie. well LIFE IS GOOD, so keep at it.
I spent more $$ today but ya know....I wanted a brighter tile in the downstairs bathroom, so I grabbed 2 cases, we'll see if that is enough to finish the job. At least they let you return any leftover singles, I checked before I paid for them.
Did laundry at the Laundromat again early this a.m. New washer comes Friday, but anyone with DD's knows laundry piles up much faster with them.
Thanks wendymac, GoJays and flemeth for the encouraging comments on my ongoing battle with the bulge. Longest journey I've been on.
Everyone enjoy the day whether it is rain or sunshine you were dealt today!

Everyone seems to be doing pretty well overall. I hope the day has been good.
Omg I actually managed to walk to Hersey lake today. It was a total of 7.3 miles of walking but I did it. ;)
I’m a little sore but it was a nice walk and probably the furthest I have walked in one shot. I did sit at heresy lake for 20 mins to have lunch but that’s all the sitting I did. Sorry here’s some more sideways pics lol. 🙂❤️
