Well, my friend is off helping yet another friend pack. We all seem to be downsizing.
I still have to finish checking the pics and descriptions of my auction items and then we "go live" on the 28th.
    Lynn, no camp this weekend?
My younger brother and his wife will see U2 in Toronto tonight. Jealous.
My friend's new doggie is so snuggly! He's a sweetie pie. Sadie even decided to lay on me for a while last night just to make sure he didn't. Then they were both like bookends around my friend. They're not exactly "best buddies" but I'm happy with how this socialization is working out with Sadie.

Find some sunshine in this drippy day! I'm going to try.

Oh, asking for advice - gift which can be sent by Amazon for an active 2 year old with a keen mind and love of books?
Hi @avoncallingu , @Lynn49 . Renos aren't happening until this coming weekend. This week is the hectic week, in and out of the office, we take possession of our home on Thursday, renos start this weekend. We are starting with removing the popcorn ceilings throughout the house...who decides to put popcorn ceilings in the kitchen...WHO!?

U2 you say...? Funny, our Lawyer couldn't meet with us Friday evening to finalize all of our house paperwork because he was at the U2 Concert as well...go figure!

    Good morning Fam!
Started the day at the office early today...much more so than usual, was in by 5.
Going to be a long week, in and out, so I'll be posting intermittently.
@Lynn49 , my FIL's surgery is tomorrow (Tuesday). I believe as of 7:30 this morning he is supposed to stop eating all solid foods. He's probably up and about, out somewhere to have one last HUGE breakfast!

    Have a wonderful week folks!

    mornin all!
After dropping DD at work I headed to NF to return a bag of Dole coleslaw that was sour and the expiry said June 29th??
I had intended to just grab a fresher bag but even the ones that expire on July 4th were looking off ( the red cabbage bleeding ) I get to the cash to show them and was told there is a recall on Dole??

Now I don't know if it is ALL Dole salads or just the slaw, but heads up everyone! I got a refund instead.
Feeling like I need a bit more sleep, was up a tad earlier than i wanted to be....enjoy the day all!!

Hm. Interesting @walkonby...I checked to find a Dole salads recall and so far didn't pull anything up...the kids often buy those bagged salads to bring camping since they're so convenient...'ll keep an eye out for their recalls.
Strange that IF there is a recall that they're still on the shelves...usually they're pulled off pretty darn quickly.

There is a raspberry recall in Ontario and Quebec: June 23rd for Gelsius brand whole raspberries
    due to Norovirus:
    http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall...63740r-eng.php
It says "hotel/restaurant", so I'm hoping nothing snuck past them...I probably wouldn't order anything with fresh raspberries in them for a while...

Just finished catching up here. All the best to your FIL @danger_dan & @avoncallingu , I hope that migraine is better. All this unsettled weather sure doesn't help.

I had the wedding Saturday, and what an unexpected beautiful day it was. They were calling for afternoon thunderstorms, and all we had was sun. I'm so happy for my niece & her new husband.
On Sunday, church picnic after the service, then off to a friends for a BBQ & pool party. Too wet & cold for the pool, but we still had fun. Didn't get home till after 1 this morning, so slept in of course.
Unfortunately, Jake was staying @ a friends all w/end, but he wasn't feeling well. Sick and diarrhea all w/end. I felt so sorry, not only for him, but my friend of course. He seems to be better this morning thankfully.

It's been raining here on & off all morning. The sun's been out for about 1/2 hour, but the clouds are moving back in.
Of course, I had planned to cut the lawn & do some weeding, but it's like a swamp out there, back to the drawing board.

I hope every1 has a wonderful day, and I'm praying for Osuna. I sure hope they can help him.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I know I have tried in the past but it can be hard here. I am going to try a vegan diet again in a couple weeks. Timmins is a meat and potatoes kind of place lol. Because of my gout most soy products are no good. So most of the meat alternatives are not good for me. I really do want to do it and see how it affects my gout. I have recipes already with no soy, burgers, "tuna" made with almonds and veggie summer rolls. No soy sauce for dipping though lol.

    Hi, @cabmonk!

I came across this recipe for a soy sauce substitute...it's received really great reviews on allrecipes.com...maybe give it a whirl?
Btw...LOVE summer veggie rolls...do you do yours in rice paper, too? Gosh it's been a while since I made them...maybe it's time!

Combine, heat together and simmer to about 1 cup, roughly 15 minutes.

    • 4 tablespoons beef bouillon
    • 4 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
    • 2 teaspoons dark molasses
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

    • 1 pinch white pepper
    • 1 pinch garlic powder
    • 1 1/2 cups water
