I’m trying to be diligent in my healthier eating habits and intentional exercise, but I’m disappointed by my lack of progress. The scale isn’t moving consistently in the right direction and I haven’t noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit yet.
I put two jars in the bay windowsill to sprout. One is mung beans, the other is a sprout mix. I already have store bought green onions growing in a mug in that same window.
I’ve been doing more running and weighted vest hikes as I’ve been a tad nervous to do upper body weights too much so I don’t re injure my shoulder ( my job is super physical and lots of shoulder work) but yesterday I did a full strength workout. I can definitely feel the muscles that were used but surprisingly it’s not bad. Nothing that would impede my workout this morning.
This morning is leg day after a warm up hike.
Not wanting to sound ill informed, but why do you love your weighted vests? If I want weight while doing lunges, stairs, etc. I just carry dumbbells and exercise my arms at the same time. I’ve been working on combo exercises.
I am also learning more about the protein and fibre is various foods, to help me increase both in my daily life.
I have been continuing to use our dumbbells and stationary bike at home most days.
It is -15 with the windchill this evening, so I brought my winter clothes and went for a 40min walk outside in the snow with some small hills on the route while my kids attended their class.
I went to the gym this afternoon! Finally! Drove in a snowstorm. It wasn't too busy but tomorrow I am going to plan and go for around 2pm to beat the after work rush.
Shhhh. this is a secret. I've once again jumped on a clean(er) eating food regimen. One that I WAS on, then leapt off during Christmas and New Years.
I feel like such a wishy washy loser on some days, BUT......thanks to great friends at sc ( sniff, sniff ) I've been boosted up with loads of encouragement.
There's one in particular...you know who you are my friend, phone calls from you are the best!
Time to stop blaming anyone but myself. This Taylor Swift song got to me...lol

I have a sweet tooth and I found this quite satisfying.
I just ate a yummy protein snack. I made these squares yesterday in an 8x8” pan. Just now I mixed vanilla Greek yogurt with 2/3 scoop vanilla protein powder. Then I mixed in small chunks of the squares. https://www.hummusapien.com/cookie-dough-protein-bars/
Dh assembled my rebounder today. Another workout option.
Good day! Monday I am prepping chicken/veggie/sweet potato containers for the week. I need to get back at this and we have so much chicken in the freezer the timing is perfect. I like to have these ready on work days...then I can just heat and eat instead of not eating and then being starving and making bad choices.
The sun is shining more and the day staying lighter later so this is good for after work fresh air walks. Bring back walks by the water! (at least down by the town docks for now) :)
Last night after 830pm I enjoyed a walk wearing a hoodie it was so nice out!
Will go again tonight but do my hour walk- To RCSS. 15 mins each way. 30 mins walking the entire store. Great way to get an hour walk in without trying!
And the store is nice and quiet :)
Will use my weights etc today to do a work out this morning on my work break!
I made oatmeal on Tuesday for breakfast so the leftovers have done me well for yesterday and today. Easy to heat up and add almond milk and fresh fruit.
Looking forward to grilling chicken and asparagus on the BBQ. Now I look forward to this meal!
Weighted vests are amazing for increasing and maintaining bone density which is UBER important as we enter peri and full menopause. You should be wearing 10% of your ideal weight but they suggest building up to it. It doesn’t sound like a lot but if you add an extra 10-15lbs on you while just walking, vacuuming (any light exercise) you will notice it. Best to build your way up. Check out Dr. Mary Claire Haver for all the info and studies about it.
Any way I can stack the cards in my favour against osteoporosis I will do it!
Got my second run of the week in yesterday. I’ve been slacking a bit in the way that I’m not full out running or heavy lifting as I’m crazy busy at work which is an extremely physical job. I've still been walking (with my vest), some lighter lifting but now returning to running and going to start with 2-3x a week so ease back into it.
The plan today is maybe a quick walk before the rain and then house cleaning with my vest.
I’ve slacked with running so I’ve decided to start from scratch and take a learn to run 5km program. I’ve been dealing with nagging injury issues and I think it’s best to start from scratch. It’s teaching me to take it easy and not push myself to a point where I’m going to get injured and then not run. It’s tough to know where I was and see where I am now but I have to do it.
I've still been strength training and wearing my weighted vest while walking but I miss running. So back to basics for now.
I finished week #1 of my run 5k beginner program Sunday and had a run recovery day yesterday but walked instead. Starting week #2 today. So far things are going good. No irritation to the injuries so that’s a good thing but I reeeeeeeeally want to pick it up so that’s an on ongoing struggle for me.
