Just a quick note, I am looking for a chatting program for the computer, and cell phone... I know about skype... But wondering if there are any others that are just as good or better...just curious...

I'm currently using WhatsApp for my cell phone. I mainly use it for texting without having to pay for international texts. Like skype, the people you want to chat to have to have the same app. I think you can use it on your desktop, but I've not done it personally.

Yeah first year is free though then after you have to pay for it at least that's what I remember

Not sure about a fee as nothing is mentioned. Definitely not a fee for use on my phone as I've had it for many years.

WhatsApp is great.
I've had it since you originally had to pay for the app ($0.99 USD back then...expensive!) when it first came out...back when unlimited texting wasn't an option and you wanted to be able to text your friends who owned BBs from your iPhone without contributing to your text count.
The App is now free, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any charges. I believe the fees were the transition period between the paid app and the free to use app...that period when the company was just about to break even on their investment.

My kids have the whatsApp and its free the used it on a daily basis for long distance calls
