    hi,
i'm not good with tech so please kindly help if you know.

my power adapter/charger stopped working - it won't charge my asus laptop. there's no light on the charger to indicate that it's working and i've tried plugging it into different and working outlets. It was working yesterday. there's no tear or anything. i don't remember dropping it from a high place or anything.

anyway, i would like to buy a replacement one.

should i look for any asus charger/adapter or do i need a specific model? and do you know what is a reasonable price to pay? or where to buy?

So far, i look at best buy online and i see asus adapter for $63-ish (1 review but only 1 star) and then one for $79.99 (no review).

my laptop model is Asus K55A.404
the broken adapter has the below info:
    ACDC adapter
    model ADP-90CD DB
    input 100-240V~1.5A, 50-60 Hz
    output 19V --- 4.74A

my last resort was going to local repair shop with the broken adapter and see if i can buy a replacement from them...

    thanks in advance.

edit - sorry, i think i should have posted this in electronic section.. please move if it fits there better. don't think i can delete. thanks

....or Ebay. I've bought two from there so far for my Acer and they've both been great. And much cheaper than what you found. You just have to make sure you research the heck out of the person you're buying it from.

my asus laptop charger/power cord stopped working last year, my husband found a generic one (POWSEED universal charger) on amazon that came with multiple plug in ends so it was a guarantee that you can try each one until you find one that fits your laptop

so the charger/adapter i was borrowing had a tear and i smell something funny so i stopped using it.

i bought new charger/adapter at a repair shop... they told me it will work as long as the specs is the same as my old one (the brand didn't matter; i never knew) -- input 100-240V~1.5A, 50-60 Hz output 19V --- 4.74A.... they let you try charging it at the repair shop before buying, which is great. got it for $25 before taxes.
