Tonight I went to the local Value Village store prior to my Longos grocery run. Did not find any tops or shorts for me. At the grocery store, lots of variety in reduced produce >so 1 head of cauliflower, organic apples, and peaches were purchased plus 99cents bunch of radishes. I also found a reduced priced loaf I love and decided two of the Take Two salads were coming home with me (love the Thai Mango salad mix). Funnily enough, I had intended to buy a case of Coke pop but with the produce in my cart, I reconsidered it. It's a breezy but humid evening and lugging stuff in humidity is not really fun.

I made tomorrow's smoothie with three of the peaches and 1/2 cup of raspberries, a few celery sticks and 1/2 cup of cauliflower. Sliced some of the radishes and halved the rest. This way, I can snack or put into salads what I want without waiting to wash/chop items.

Noticed on Yahoo News that Manitoba Hydro customers got a rate increase but not as much as utility wanted. https://ca.yahoo.com/news/hydro-rate...024840439.html
@Angela _273 -good idea to have fast food coupons in your purse (and the home baking accomplished today-hurrah!). I was tempted to have an Angus burger at McDonalds tonight but do not have any meal deal offers. I probably need to buy a pack of frozen burgers for the weekend and broil some for lunch/supper.

Raspberry-peach blend for smoothie = Raw cauliflower in same smoothie= Back to celery I'll go. It may be more useful to buy Longo's bite size blend of frozen fruits (as the bag contains peaches along with berries) for future smoothies once I use my raspberry supply.

The remaining cauliflower will get pan roasted on Friday when the weather is cool and curried cauliflower will be very welcome. I may even bake a cake or quick loaf too.

The flyer and paper bundle was not in the mailbox last night; I will look at a few flyers here then scoot to visit a different Value Village store/get some air/ride a bus. Overcast sky so the rain is lurking. Have to stop in at the library to pick up a requested DVD and return magazines.

Could use a drumroll to get me motivated right now:

Yeah yuck to the cauliflower smoothie lol. I bought frozen organic Kale for my smoothies but my magic bullet does not break it down at all. I will have to try it with the ninja blender.

Quiet day at work today (I hope) Plan to get many things done so I have a clean plate when I return on Tuesday (Yeah for a long weekend ) Next week I will have to be productive since I am off on vacation the following 2 weeks. So I also need to get started on my bedroom since I want it done before vacation!!

I took out a family pack of lean ground beef from the freezer (that I paid .99LB for in June) Making burger patties with corn on the cob for dinner. Will make extra burgers for the teen for tomorrow since we are away overnight.
Hitting No Frills today on my lunch to grab some fresh fruit. (Watermelon!!) Didn't buy much for groceries the past weekend so I can splurge

Went to No Frills and spent $21.62 (SCOP for watermelon ) We are ready for dinner tonight and the weekend. The blackberries they have for $1 are really good! Will cut up the watermelon for the weekend and buy another next week.

Went to Burlington and did find the summer assortment of clothing somewhat better at that Value Village (the card no longer works). Bought a men's short sleeve shirt for $2.50 and tax. I liked the red/blue/gray plaid and the pocket so I intend to combine the fabric with the purple shirt fabric (mid-tone) to make a summer top.
Happened to find the new On the Go booklet by a 24Hours newsbox at Guelph Line/New Street (NE corner just past bus stop upon parking lot) with Jenn Valentine cover and some offers inside. Plus there was post-secondary education info on the other side of the booklet. Happily found a June/July issue of Panoram magazine at the Central Library.Spent over an hour catching up on back issues of Hamilton and Toronto papers.
Had a couple of soft tacos at the Burlington Mall food court for lunch-yum.
Did visit the Red Hill library too to get today's Stoney Creek News and spend a little time online prior to buying a Frosty, then going home.
Was glad I had refilled my water bottle in Burlington. The Parkdale bus had to wait for several minutes as the lift bridge was up to let a cargo ship head out onto Lake Ontario. And it had rained just prior to that stop. So I was thirsty.

I sold another $10 in garden veggies yesterday. My total is now up to $39 in garden produce sold so far this year. I have two friends stopping by later for some free garden veggies.

Friday is muggy and one rainfall has happened along with rumbling. Noticed there is a severe storm alert for today with possibility of hail (that will make tender fruit farmers cry if it happens). So no baking or pan roasting today. Cutting the grass is also off though it seems possible to get some cut.

Smoothies-I seem to always have enough made for two tall glasses and I find one is more than enough. However I am eating other things with the smoothie (kind of defeating the digestive enzyme reset process). I'm so hungry>not enough protein and mouth feel to make me feel full. Just had a green salad with radishes and dressing-will go to a store and get snacks. Must peruse the flyers from yesterday.

Plan to figure out which top pattern can maximize the fabrics from two shirts. Want a new top for Monday if not sooner.

All you very busy and dedicated people!
I got my new (free) cheques today so was able to run over to my investment guy with a cheque so that they can transfer the funds from the sale of my condo from my chequing account into investments. They would not accept a bank draft as it might be "hot" money being laundered. That's me, alright-an underworld money launderer! The only money I launder is the stuff I forget to take out of my pants pockets before they get thrown in the washing machine.

I broke the toilet last night while trying to stop it from constantly running- at 11:30 as I was going to bed. GUSHING WATER OVER THE TOP OF THE TANK! Luckily I was able to get the rusty old water shut-off valve to finally work. Cleaning up spilled water was not what I had planned for midnight entertainment!

I sent a text off to my landlady knowing full well that she is away for the weekend. I have offered to personally buy and install "comfort" height toilets for both bathrooms. The expense is worth the wear and tear on my knees and my brother will need a higher toilet height.

Then tonight after dinner, just as I was planning to start the laundry and finish scrubbing the shower stall and run the dishwasher- all the water turned brown.

I tell you-water nasties seek me out ! Must have ticked off the water gods somewhere down the line. I have to be vigilant as water issues sneak up on me.

Did find a $7 tear-off on some probiotics that I need to take.

My friend is taking me out to lunch on Sunday as I have not been able to get out of the house because of my dog's antics and now my brother having need of a companion all day.

Looking forward to seeing the upcoming meteor showers next week!

Have to check to see if we will be affected by the Eclipse at all.

Remember in "You're So Vain" Carlie Simon sings, "And then you flew your Lear Jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun?"
I wonder if any of our SCers saw that one back in the early 70's I think.
I'm rambling. Have a frugally fun long weekend folks!

@avoncallingu -oh, water woes! Hard to deal with such a necessity becoming a $ fix issue. The gushing part is hard but to see water turn brown? Two things come to mind-either the water line is impaired somewhere along city connection or in the building OR there was a fire hydrant test recently (but the brown water usually clears up within hours afterwards). Very odd all this happened last night, as though the infrastructure wanted a holiday too. Hope your landlady responds today.

Speaking of water shut-off valves, I read a month or so ago in one of the daily papers that the values need replacing every 3-4 years (never knew that). My biggest issue is having a sponge or folded tissue in place under the toilet shut-off valve to absorb condensation from all the showers and such that accumulate then drip off said valve (quite a puddle). I would not be confident in replacing a valve on my own. We used to have a special plastic tray to place under the toilet tank in the 80s. Probably still exists in some format now. It'd be one more thing to have to clean...

Yesterday was International Beer Day. I went to LCBO to get some radlers and two beers. I did end up cutting grass and finished just as the afternoon rain/winds began. Was so carb hungry and thirsty afterwards. There was a radler enjoyed later in the evening.

This morning is chilly enough that condensation has appeared on the basement windows. Time to head to Shoppers 1-day sale and get some baking and pop specials. Glad I had washed laundry yesterday and I did not want to do it today. Random thought-Uniqlo has Airism items on sale until Monday-visit downtown Toronto and browse the stores but the grand parade for the Toronto Caribbean Carnival is on today, so Lakeshore Blvd might have some road closures. Will see how Monday works out.

The Bay has 40% off boxed Wonderbra and Warner bras in the current flyer. If it's time to replace some lingerie, there is the sale incentive (I have to go to get one item soon).

If you are shopping at Longos Ancaster this weekend, spending over $75 will get you a free 1kg Longos rotisserie chicken (offer on receipt but you don't need it to claim it). It's also T-ball championship time in Ancaster, so expect some lineups at the Tim Hortons in town. Avoid Wilson St. W. between Fiddlers Green and Meadowbrook by taking detours or using alternate roads.

Music fans know that Festival of Friends is on this weekend at Gage Park. Shuttles from University Plaza or Lime Ridge Mall (regular fares apply but groups should consider the Day Pass).
