Today our son had a little table set up to sell Gatorade, freezies, and garden veggies. He made $5.50. We had family pictures taken at Wal-Mary, my Smile card expires this month and they discontinued the program. We got two sheets for free, one from the Smole card and the collage for their birthday. We picked some stuff up at Wal-Mart, used $10 coupon on diapers, 25c back from mushrooms through the Caddle app, and SCOPed a two pack of glue sticks. I'll need to check my other receipt from buying school supplies earlier in the month. We then used the free car wash voucher, $16 value. The automatic car wash did a good job on my van, but not so good on the back hatch, I might need to go out there and clean it by hand.

I saw that my Facebook advertisements for my garden veggies had been removed, so I re-posted today. One person wants $10 worth of rhubarb, so I'll have to let the plant grow more before she can get that much. A different lady will be here soo to buy fresh dill.

edit: The lady bought some dill and cherry tomatoes. I'm now at a total of $64 in garden produce sales so far this summer.

Good evening. We did pretty well with our yard sale, $270 and lots of stuff gone. We took a few bags and boxes to value village after too, but didn't go in! lol We had spaghetti for dinner and now defrosting an apple pie for dessert.

Lovely blue sky with fluffy white clouds this morning. I made a point to replay the Because song (the Valerian movie cover version) often tonight once I determined a router reset might solve the absence of Internet (last night and today). Discovered online that Toronto Public Library has ebook and hard cover editions of some of the space/time duo's adventures! However Hamilton Public Library has the animated series--I recommend it for gaining some backstory on the two as the movie did not explain some obvious things, such as how they understand each other despite not being from same time and language would have been different in each century. I'd like to see the movie again in the theatre with popcorn.

Purchased a belt today for $1.70 at Value Village. I will have to add two holes to make it work for my waist (must be a medium size belt but there were no markings-I previewed the store merchandise last night to see what might be worthwhile). Did a can walk (found 5 to add to last night's two cans) after buying two cans of tuna at Walmart. Bought a $1 scratch ticket, won $2, bought two more tickets and won $2 again. Bought last two tickets and got nothing. Last night different store same $1 ticket won $2 so got two tickets which were 0s. Funny to get that adrenaline flowing again with tickets.

Chiffon cake with spices turned out well-we had it today. I had made my smoothie with apple and I learned I will have peel and chop up the apple smaller than wedges or face chucks of apple not blended by the blender.

The 99c Harvest Bakes at Shoppers (after $3 manager's coupons) have been yummy to enjoy with other things this weekend. Sometimes they are out for sale on Sat or just Sun-YMMV. The dates were for Aug. 17 on the bags but I usually eat the baked goods within 72 hours (2 pkgs), particularly when I have smoothies or my instant noodles.

Arrived home Friday after my trip to Alaska-there was a lot of drama with the bears the last night there-I guess they saved best till last. First there were a couple of black bears fishing, then a black bear Mama came and fished with her cub and then, the King of the stream, a huge grizzly bears swaggers up and we are all thinking-Oh no where did the Mama and the cub go-just then the Mama poked her head out of the trees and was heading for the girzzly at a 90 degree angle-we on the viewing platform could see their paths were about to cross and we all collectively held our breath. Suddenly the Mama black bear either saw or smelled the big grizzly and took off running back into the trees and the grizzly chased them both up a tree-they were so scared they stayed there for about 45 minutes. I had no idea two bears could climb a tree so fast-their lives certainly depended on it. We were so relieved the grizzly did not eat the cub right in front of all the viewers-including some kids. I know that is nature but that would have been too much reality and we all would have been horrified!! Needless to say it was an exciting end to my bear watching trip to Hyder, Alaska.
I have been feeling a little bit stiffer since I got home-perhaps from all the driving and not doing quite as many exercises when I was away. I was supposed to go back to physio tonight but wiped out in the parking lot this aft at No Frills so will go on Wednesday instead. Anyway I am a bit bruised and sore, on top of my gradually resolving injury, but I still did my exercises tonight. One of these days I wll feel completely back to normal!! Have also been busy helping DD get ready for school-needed to buy a few things and today we got money out of the RESP-thank goodness we have one with the price of uni these days. So I have to say it has not been a very frugal month with travel, physio etc-but likely much cheaper than Sept when tuition and residence fees are due. My DH is planning to go down to Wyoming this weekend with the next door neighbours to see the solar eclipse-he hardly ever spends money on himself so I encouraged him to go for it-in any case I don't think DD and I are interested in driving 12 hrs+ to see a 2 minutes solar eclipse if the skies are clear!! He can just tell me how great it was when he gets back. I guess I am into bears and he is into eclipses-lol.

Sky keeps going from sunny to watery every so often. I had some morning laundry out but at first watery sky, brought the lot indoors. Think we're in for afternoon rain (my hands and sinuses dancing in my head tell me it's showtime).

I have yet to find the leather punch tool (unless it's elsewhere) in the workshop, so the belt is on standby (aka not in use). With the humidity, I'm working on keeping cool and tinkering with fabric and notions. Regardless, I am looking at fall clothing online and will flip the digital Ikea catalogue pages for fabrics and some chair ideas. The banana leaf print that Ikea sells just might have to find a place here with me.

Aside from finding two nickels last night on my walk, no pennies or international coins have shined at me yet this month. August is puzzling in the finds department.

Back to school deals also mean back to school contests! I am pursuing the prizes of Staples gift cards-a new router would be welcome as the current one is acting up. Yes, I'd love to recycle the old router ASAP and be in charge of the new one.

This week will be one to make do with what's in the pantry or the fridge for meals. Hello, pasta!

I sold more garden veggies again yesterday, new total is $64. I saw one potato poking through the soil, so I dug the plant by hand and got about 1 gallon of potatoes. I'll add potatoes into my meal plans again.

Well I bought burger buns on the weekend and took out lean beef and pork from the freezer. Burgers with salad are on the menu tomorrow night. Which works since I won't be hungry till later since I'm meeting my friend for a late lunch. Tonight - I'm not sure of the plan. Just youngest DS and myself. He suggested take out lol. Will tidy up the kitchen and see what we decide.

Rain came for a few minutes after 4pm. I had to make myself leave the brand new Ikea catalogue that I was leafing through to collect the laundry Mom left on the line.
I see many little things of interest in the catalogue. Find the short stories about various environmental things that Ikea stores are doing (reducing food waste, recycling pop bottles to make cabinet doors) plus ways to put Ikea furnishings to use for different people enlightening. Sure would not mind a striped wool & cotton floor rug! Or the big beanbag shown in use for storytime in a kid's bedroom. Jotted a list of things to look for at the store in the future-I need the tactile experience.

I did not know Ikea provides wall anchor kits with each chest of drawers or that shoppers can get free kits from the store for furniture they already have. While that can work with home owners, renters probably have to read their agreements to see if there is allowance made for anchoring furniture for child safety.

@Coupon_girl -ideal weather for walking! Hope your daughter has good walking shoes for support (or her feet will tell on her) and Epsom salts for soaks after long walks. The wasp bite is not fun. Remind your daughter to not wear scented products in the woods as insects may think she's a flower. Sweet drinks or ice cream are other attractive items.
@Angela _273 -your garden is a source of wonder! Potatoes--mmm! There are too many tomatoes in varying degrees of ripeness here at home.

I bought nearly a box of boys Pull-Ups from a grandma on Facebook for $10 today. My summer daycare boy got picked up early, so the kids and I walked to do the pickup. I had our twins in the double stroller and our son took his bike. My phone was in my pocket and it says we walked about 2km. We picked up 3 cans along the way and picked up the mail on the way home.

We had toasted bacon tomato (from the garden) and cheese sandwiches for supper.
