After the last couple of years we have had, getting upset over a cashier doing their job isn't high on priorities of life.

Its my rant. And I'll rant if I want to. Going 10 times and being asked 8 out of the 10 is annoying. Especially knowing the high rates on the cards. Debts sales is shameful and most people should know better.

It's how the companies make their money. As long as the credit card is a money-maker for them, the cashiers will continue to ask the question. You have to either tolerate the question or start shopping online. If you're going to rant about something, you're going to get replies and you aren't going to like some of the answers. My two cents. Have a nice day.

I can't say I've ever had an issue w/ a clerk when I've said "no thanks"
The clerks at Costco were a bit pushier when it came down to it, holding up the line while they asked me why I didn't want an executive membership. Then one clerk told me to write "ex" on my card... and I haven't been asked since.

If you uphold your end of the cardholder agreement, then you don't have to worry. But if you don't protect your PIN, and your card is lost or stolen and someone somehow is able to use the PIN associated with the card, you're liable.
