We were invited to a friend’s birthday supper tonight. The reservation is somewhere relatively expensive, so we decided to hire a babysitter for a couple of hours. We figured it would cost us about the same, and this way we get some adult time.

I just arranged for someone to buy pretty much the rest of my extra cherry tomatoes and yellow pear tomatoes. She was thrilled with the price of $10. I am now up to $182 from selling extra garden produce this year. I still have a little bit of tomatoes to cook up, but it’ll only take a small pot if I turn it into sauce. I already have 2 icecream buckets of tomato sauce in the freezer. Dh is already complaining about the freezer being full. I spent a lot on groceries last week, so it’s nice to not be looking for much in the flyers. I have to contact Air Miles regarding lots of 120 missing AM from Sobeys offers.

Good idea for the babysitter. When my kids were young I didn't find it enjoyable to go out to restaurants for dinner with kids. For a treat I would feed them dinner and once they were in bed it was Chinese take out . Then I could really enjoy it.

Found a deal on something I needed to start a project I decided to take $100 from my casino cash and start a little side business. Even if I decide against trying to sell the product I will make gifts with the product Not like I don't have enough to do but I need something for me/ a hobby. Cleaning and working out in the evening are not enough!

TGIF!! An overcast day here. Cozy warm in jeans and runners. (Love dress down Friday's!)

I did nothing last night. So tonight I will get some things done while making dinner with my honey. Finally we have a free night to just cook at our speed and then relax and enjoy it. Hope there is a good movie on tonight because it feels like a cuddle on the couch kind of night.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

I agree TGIF. Why is it the short weeks always feel the longest. I am working at home today and that's a nice thing on a Friday as I can get a jump on the weekend with no 2 hr commute home.

    Good Afternoon Everyone,
I decided to work from home today as I have been totally stressed about our latest project. I was hoping if I isolated myself at home where there is no one to talk to or get distracted by that maybe I could move this project forward. I got quite a bit done today just hoping next week goes well as we are short staffed so not sure how much time I will have for the project.

I also have not worked on any of my own project in over a week and a half. So might see if I can get some of that done this weekend as I just feel like everything is piling up on me.

I also have a bunch of stuff to get done at home this weekend. We will see how that goes as we are doing Thanksgiving tomorrow. We have decided to make a Roast Beef instead of Turkey mainly because we did not have room in the fridge to defrost the Turkey. But that work for me I prefer beef over turkey and I find the clean up a lot easier too. I do not know what it is about Turkey but it always seems like when we cook one every dish in the house is used.

Trying to decide what to make for dinner, I have been craving Potato Soup for weeks and was going to make that tonight but I had Mashed Potatoes for lunch (leftovers that needed to be used) and we will be having Mashed Potatoes tomorrow so not sure Potato Soup is the best idea. Thinking I might just do Nachos as it is quick and easy. I am happy with everything I got done today but I am feeling really tired now and don't have much ambition.

    Have a great evening everyone

I took our kids to the Family Centre to play this morning, I don’t have any daycare kids today. I have 2 drop-in kids coming on Monday. I have a pick-up tomorrow afternoon for baby clothes.

We ate a variety of leftovers for lunch today. I have a chicken roasting in the oven, it’s the last Hutterite chicken from my dad. I’ll cook some veggies and potatoes to go with it. I harvest a gallon of mature green onion bulbs from the garden. When this type of green onion is mature it spends most of its energy trying to make seeds, so you don’t get very much onion greens from these bulbs during the growing season. There are still lots more green onions in my garden, I planted them when we bought our house 12yrs ago. I also harvested the rest of the beets, 2/3 of a grocery bag full.

This weekend is the model engineering show, we might attend it again this year. Our son has a Halloween themed birthday party to attend tomorrow afternoon at the Family Centre.

edit: Supper is virtually free tonight and there will be leftovers. Roast chicken with onion from the garden, cooked garden carrots, raw garden carrots, boiled garden potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, and a glass of milk.

@cath007 -fabulous for your father to find a jacket that suits him! He will feel good wearing it when he's outside and at work or at events. Super find on the change too! Does Eve chase anything that moves? You are making continuing progress on the room cleanup-way to go!! Like all your fruit purchases too!
@Angela273 -garden has been a goldmine this year. Feed it well for next year! Hope you had a fun night out at dinner.
@Frugalbigmama and @barbis9 -Sears-I was just at the Lime Ridge Mall store yesterday due to visiting two other stores with Mom (I wanted her to get the senior's discount at Home Outfitters for a sheet set on sale): Haggar men's pjs are not marked down (two kinds at $59.95 with Large mostly sold out but other sizes M to XXL on the rack), there is no Wayne Gretzky merchandise anywhere. Some pjs and tops have red sale stickers and there are clearance racks outside of the regularly priced men's wear racks. There is a certain amount of dress shirts and casual wear on the menswear shelves and racks-I'd suggest going now for best selection when you can spare time to wander each dept. Footwear in any dept-all boxes seem open and shoes mixed up. Womenswear is a very outlet store experience-whatever was there in Sept seems to be on the racks for Oct. I noticed our store has closed off the first floor washrooms (signs are gone and doors covered with fixture/mannequins). So many discarded drink cups on shelves or racks-I gathered three and tossed them into the trash in one cash area. Bedding-some good cotton sateen sets (Bestitch-$44.95 for Queen in solid pastels or higher prize for King-saw a soft cream beige colour) and lots of Turkish flannel sets. Comforters--mixed assortment but kids or youth sets in polyester or cotton are best deals. If you wait for the liquidation sales, you'll probably get more of the messy outlet look like the fashion/footwear depts. are currently showing.

Shoppers Drug Mart no longer carries shoe polish in glass jars. Only tins or creams in tubes in the Kiwi lineup. That explains why I had Meltonian offers for Optimum points in the spring so I am glad I had bought extra jars then. BTW, I was on a patent leather cleaner quest a week ago-it's not in most stores (not even in my local Walmart). The independent shoe store was out of stock but a second tip to try the shoe repair place yielded the precious spray can (Tana makes it). Support your local shoe cobbler or repair business and check their stock! I had visited Famous Footwear and DSW-they don't carry this spray product.

I got a WHIM sheet set at 50% off yesterday and Mom got the extra 15% off discount at Home Outfitters. We also checked bedding and hosiery at the Bay. We liked a Hotel Collection duvet cover on display but even at 40% off, it's still pricey (and Mom does not have a duvet) for us. Another reason to chase the McDonald's Monopoly prizes of Hudson Bay gift cards!

I found two magazines at the Value Village book and magazine 50% off sale. There's fall vegetable salad I'll post from the 2011 Whole Living issue (in the Food subforum) as the website does not have many actual recipes (only some videos) still on the site.

By chance, there was an ad for a women's health site in the US and I looked up joint health. Most joint issues relate to inflammation and finally there was a mention that a drop in estrogen can make inflammation more apparent. So-sugar has to be watched (skin care book mentions it impacts collagen support of skin, inflammatory foods tend to be acidic, and I read about actor Jean Reno's diabetes and how he is disciplined in controlling it so he's not using an insulin pump-people tend to find out in their 50s about diabetes).
