I have some frozen meals in the freezer that are set to expire in a week and I want to be a little frugal. How long would you keep expired frozen food for? Other than tossing things that have major freezer burn on them - what guidelines do you use?

    Any input greatly appreciated.

Usually the date on the packaging is actually when the store needs to sell it by. Depending on the product they could still be good for 2 week or even up to 6 months to a year. I usually decide based on what the product is

I agree. Up to a year. Here's a chart from North Dakota State University. They even tell you what's the best way to wrap things before you freeze.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I would try to consume it within a month of expiry.

I noticed my freezer keeps things colder at the back than by the door. Move the item to the back... but make sure you don't forget about it!

I pulled a beef roast from the freezer 2 weeks ago and I believe the best before date was May 2016 (it was put in the freezer before that date) And I wrap them in plastic bags. (sometimes 5 or more bags)

My man still talks about how great that roast was lol

I did a major cleaning in my freezer because of the lack of space and discovered 8 lean cuisine bb 2015 so I tossed those away.Did not want to take a chance to be sick.At least they where in sale at 2$.Now I only purchase 4 at the time because i dont eat them very often.
