Fortinos shoppers in Ontario-you may have noticed an upcoming change to weeknight hours at all store locations except the Main. St. W. one by McMaster University in Hamilton and a Brampton location-as of Tuesday, January 2, stores will close at 9pm instead of 10pm. No changes to weekend hours.
Just an alert in case you were used to shopping after 9pm on weeknights.

As today is New Year's Eve, check if your grocery stores close at 6pm! Sobeys will close at 7pm at some locations.

I think they have shortened the hours to reduce staff shifts. When the minimum wage went up, some stores opened later, some stores put in more self check out lanes and some employees got more 4 hour shifts and less 8 hour shifts.

My 2018 Year in Review, Optimum and PC Optimum Statistics:
(I started out with about $1000 in points at PCO changeover, and now only have about $300 worth, so my points spent was higher than points earned)

2018:
Total $$ spent at SDM, no frills, and superstore (including tax and deposits): $6711
Total points earned (NOT including points earned at gas bar, or from PC MC): 3,078,132
Total points spent: 4,520,000
Value of points redeemed: $4780

In general, most of my redemptions were at Superstore or No Frills. I didn't do near the redemptions at SDM like I used to (unless there was a bonus). I earn my points easily at SDM, and redeem at Superstore. I was very skeptical at the changeover, but am so pleased with the result! Still overall savings of about 40%. Still by far, the best rewards program out there, and worth the time and energy it takes to do it well.

I shop for 4 families, so that makes it much easier to reach the spending thresholds at SDM

Shoppers Drug Mart gift card problem...
I bought SDM gift card at Shell and it shows $25 balance. I called to check the balance and confirmed it is $25.
I just went to SDM but the cashier could not use it saying there is no scratch area with the PIN???
On my card, there is no scratch area, just PLU 973...
Did anyone experience something like this?

I had that problem earlier in 2018 - I had bought the card in November 2017. A manager at SDM had to transfer the balance to a new card with the pin.

Yes, has happened to me several times. About 2 days after I did the SDM gc promo in 2017 SDM came out with the policy that all GCs had to have a scratchable pin. Stores were not told in advance. I learned the hard way when my gc wouldn't work on a transaction at another store. No one knew why at the time. Went back to original store and they knew by then and changed the cards. The cash supervisor should know how to transfer the balance

This may be unrelated, but can you no longer use personalized offers with shoppers redemptions? I had pts on Bandaids, granola bars, and tide but since I redeemed I didn’t get any pts. I always thought it was the Xpts wus Y dollars personalized offers that didn’t work with redemption but now I am being told none of my personal offers work with redemptions. Was I misunderstanding before or have things changed (I spoke to someone in the app and they said I was a member of the optimum program so I should have already known this since it has always been how it worked at shoppers). But I had no clue 🤷♀️

Went today to see if I can use this offer 20%off and spend $25 on 5 pc/noname products, while i was browsing i saw pc trail mix decorated with manager stickers($12ea.) i was happy as i had an offer 600/$3 so I grabbed 4 and 1 pc cookiesfor$1.99 to make them 5. I scaned my card and my phone for the 20% I was expecting to get 20%off+8000+ 600/$3 trail mix which alot. But all I have got is 20% off the trail mix which $3.5 off each and 1200 points for pc trail mix(600×2) I was expecting to receive points for manager coupons but I didn't. Sp in total i spent $11.×× tax incl and got ony 1335 ponts

I've noticed the last few times that I didn't get points for managers stickers ( I used to). I think there is a conversation further up that said it depends on how the coupon is entered. I think we should always assume no points on Managers stickers. It reduces the cost of the item. It's not like a vendor coupon where they get the money back.

I was thankful and satisfied with all the discount that I got but as you said I used to get points on the manager's stickers specially the same cashier has served me before and I got the points. Anyway thanks for the reply

I was out country for 5 months, now I am not sure if I use points to redeem in No Frills, still get bonus points? I loaded personal offer, which is: spend $40, get 4000 points. I am going to redeem 40000 points, hope to receive the 4000 points.

@jamesfranco- We used to be able to get points for personalized offers at SDM when we redeemed but not anymore. That changed - I think last spring sometime. Whoever told you it's always been that was was mistaken. *I think* you will earn points on in-store offers even when you redeem - hoping other SCers can confirm this either way.
p.s. As far as I know, it still works at the supermarkets though.

Same with me, happened twice, looks like the system has been changed. It was awesome while it lasted. In my case once they entered the manufacturing coupons as store coupons so I had them refund and reenter, other time I had manager's stickers (entered as managers coupons) and didn't meet the threshold.
