But won't amazon.com charge you customs charges if you order something big?

I ordered a couple of dvd boxsets last year and didn't have to pay a duty, but it might be just because I was a small order, or maybe its random and you don't have to pay it every time. But I have heard that ppl were charged these extra duties

I've been thinking that if I start stacking my amazon.com codes, I will just ship whatever to my family in illinois and have them ship it to me, and mark it as gift, so that I won't have to pay extra shipping.

I am also thinking of getting amazon.com cards from now as they have great deals esp for the stuff i am ineterested in plus u get free shipping for over $25 purchase and several times they hace addition saving codes out frequently.After ordering my last amazon.ca card hopefully tomorrow i'll save for amazon.com.I am waiting for $20 worth of amazon.ca card codes

The free shipping offer for the .com is only good for US addresses. At least that's my experience last week unless someone else had a different luck.

For sure, but maybe it would be worth it. If your getting it for free anyway and you can't get it on amazon.ca maybe it wouldn't be that bad to pay the duty tax... depending on how much they charge i guess.

I wonder if you could maybe call Canada Post or something and see if they could tell you if there would be a duty charge and how much it would be?

A friend of mine bought 3 Tshirts from cafe press and had to pay $46 in duty charges when she picked them up. Crazy amount. Maybe it's different with different types of items. I would call and see if they could tell me anything.
