I didn't get charged any duties for a $80 clock radio four months ago at Amazon.com. Used UPS Express. Amazon charges a custom deposit fee or whatever it is called. I think I got full refund of that fee a few month later which surprise me.
Anything over $20 is subject to being searched and charged customs. Many online companies will mark a package as gift, and then you don't have to pay more. Most of the time, you won't be charged anything extra, it is random, but if you order over $20 you may be. I have ordered from e-tailers in the US many times and have only paid customs once and it was an order that was over $100.Quote:

I was charged when I ordered 3 things from amazon.com duties and customs back then was cheaper then its now...I am pretty sure they have upped the service charges they put on things with the new rules the States keep putting into effect every year it feels like.
