well...referrals *help* but you can still earn lots of points without one ;)
There's no set number of searches you can do to get a point, but I find that usually, I'd get points within the first 10 searches I do in a day. Sometimes I get one in the morning, and one at night...so they're pretty spaced out.
And as for the codes, I find it's easier to just check SC periodically and see if anybody's posted anything....that or have them on twitter, facebook, get the swidget and the toolbar :cheesygrin:

For swag codes, I usually check the swidget or facebook wall periodically. If you see a lot of "Thanks TSG!" messages on the facebook wall, it probably means there is a code out. I have also subscribed to this thread so that I get emailed every time someone posts something new. There's almost always someone who posts here to let everyone know that there is a swag code out.

Damn that was a heavy swagcode day yesterday(picked up 3 bucks from codes alone), had to check to see if there was some sort of American holiday yesterday.
Managed to get 1 buck so far today, hoping i'll hit a 3 later today, like i did yesterday.
