Thread: Kitchen range hood fan making noise
-
Fri, Dec 29th, 2017, 02:15 PM #1
My kitchen range hood fan started making a very loud noise when in use. I think it might be the motor. It is only 4 years old...warranty was only for 2 years. I called a number of companies that fix appliances but none fix kitchen range hood fans. Has anyone ever had this problem and how did you fix it? What sort of company would I need to call? Thank you !

Since you can get replacements for basic ones pretty much anywhere for under $200, I would imagine this is another of the products that are built to self annihilate right after the warranty runs out. A handy man is where I would start if you ate bent on having it repaired.

I was just having a similar conversation the other day. Nothing last anymore ! Everything is made so cheaply. It's so aggravating ! I did look at prices of new range hoods and yup you're right they are around or under $200. The thing is I would have to hire someone to install it even if I went out and bought it myself because I'm just not gifted in the "handy person" department lol. I'm thinking labour will cost a lot. Ughhh anyways thank you for your help !

Just an update for future use for anyone...I didn't use the fan for a few days...waited for the weather to warm up...and voila it works fine again ! I think perhaps the blades may have froze from extreme cold weather we've been having. The flap for the exhaust fan that is at the side of my house may have somehow stayed partially open allowing the cold air in. Anyways, all is good now.
