Maybe some gift cards are kept behind the counter on a wall, separate from the gift card racks. I know my local Shoppers keeps most of the high value Visa and Mastercard and most varieties of Happy For cards behind an empty cash counter, not on the racks.Quote:

Also, you have to submit online to a third-party website after the purchase to get the eGift card, which says "limited qty" (??) -- so be wary.
Just be certain to check the packaging of the Vanilla cards at Walmart. I saw a post online of buyers having purchased cards in packaging with notches-the cards turned out to have been spent already!
Vanilla prepaid is supposed to work at retail debit machines but I used my online. Website was not accessible at all (despite entering numbers, I kept encountering a Check back later message-so frustrating), so factor in whether you want to spend time calling a tollfree number, entering all the card digits, and waiting for a balance update or transaction list.
I used to get Perfect Gift Visa cards at Shoppers and Fortinos-only one card failed to work in a store debit terminal. Others had no issues providing my card balance was enough to cover the retail purchase. That's why I went back to my bank and got a bank account-debit card skips all the toll-free numbers and having to register my Perfect Gift card (with address) prior to online orders. All those network fees connected to prepaid VIsa cards got my attention last year-it would have been cheaper to have kept my everyday chequing account with monthly fees but I learned something in the last 13 months! Got to pay to get online shopping access.
SCENE+ program allows for gift card purchases. Something to explore in case there's a gift card of interest for yourself or a giftee you have in mind.

@Ciel21: I am so agree with expensive fees on prepaid card..purchase one time a 50$ vanilla credit card at a conveniance store and the fees was 5$ wow..awfull about the Wal Mart you stated that the card where notched and already used..you cannot trus anything anymore...:( at least mine worked!!!:top:
I now use when I have a need the credit card of dad for online purchases and I refund him in $$$ much simpler and no to pay expenvise maintenance fees
