@Ciel the fix on the wash is too big for parts. It's the transmission. I have an appliance guy I trust and he suggested what to buy next but said the machine was not worth fixing. The laundromat was not bad 3 loads dried in 40 minutes and at at cost of 4.00. DH came with me and we went for a lovely walk. The next load was just hung inside on the drying rack and with the fire on it dried quick.
I treated the family to pizza tonight and splurged on delivery. It came with a bogo movie pass so may treat the kids to a movie over March break.

There has been nothing frugal about Feb and so far early March as well, but " animals happen " and ours have just been squeezing the monthly $$ to its limit! Hoping once I get around to doing our income taxes that a refund will ease some of the pain.

A friend treated me to DQ. He bought me a large blizzard, some of it is in my freezer. I used my 50c discount from my ECS Card. I also requested the receipt and showed him how to get a free Dilly Bar and submitted the receipt to the SnapMyEats app. He knows that I coupon, etc.

I took our son out with me to do some errands. He wants to learn how to braid, so we stopped at Dollar Tree to get some different coloured yarn. I showed him how to braid while I cooked supper. I picked up some Easter colouring contest pages for our kids. I’ll have to keep an eye out for other ones. Our CO-OP and local mall have had ones in the past. We quickly exchanged children’s books at the public library.

    Walmart highlights
    $1.67 baby cut carrots - $1 coup = $0.67
    $2.97 Fruit to go bars (9pk) - $2 coup = $0.97 = $0.11 per bar
$3.97 Casa Da Mia taco kit - $4.97 = SCOP
$3.97 Casa Da Mia fejita Kit - $4.97 = SCOP

@coupon girl: Good to know your Echo lasted you so long. DH's father has long been employed by a domestic car manufacturer and DH's first car was domestic. Goodness, that car cost SO much money to maintain after five years.

We gave up and bought a Yaris and it's been fine except that people keep crashing into it. They seem to be accident magnets. No at fault accidents, but we are on our third in a six year period. My current car is going to be 15 years old and no issues yet. DH's Yaris will be 11 years old this year. I'm hoping they last us for awhile longer yet. We have an expensive bathroom reno to do and our roof coming up (and somehow bring up two young children through childcare).

Every time we see him, DH's father asks us how the cars are. I think he's secretly hoping for some bad news.

Well, through a series of text messages all 3 Daycare kids cancelled for today. It is a Kindergarten day, so that means that I only have our twins. I guess we’ll stay home, get some stuff done around here, and work on potty training. I need to meal plan, but it has to be flexible for days like today when there are suddenly less people to feed. I feel uninspired and my children don’t like sauces on most foods. I have tomorrow’s lunch planned, but nothing planned for suppers this week.

I saw the English coupon and am certain it requires the purchase of two Bistro Express for a certain amount off. Lucky you if you get a FPC!

@Giseledta -I made a version of your pasta & veggies & Italian salad dressing salad and loved it Saturday night and for two meals yesterday! Plan to make it again later this week. My version had a 540ml tin of black beans, quartered and sliced carrots (2 or 3 medium) and about a half of an English cucumber (halved and sliced) with 1 cup of the dressing and 1/3 of a 900g bag of rotini pasta (when cooked made lots).

Saturday night, I also made a batch of banana oatmeal raisin cookies. Despite using two bananas, the dough was not moist enough to absorb all of the flour. However, the cookies are chewy and good!

Second can walk on Saturday-$5.40. Spent $3 at Shoppers for the Maxwell House coffee on sale (I had tossed out some expired coffee I saw in the spice cupboard and decided to put a new jar into the cupboard just in case). Noticed my Shoppers had expired flyers at the door (the previous week's) and in the food aisle, the flyers had February dates. Very odd and I commented to the cashier about the flyers. Found another McCafe sticker.

Sunday can walk $1.50 in containers and one more McCafe sticker; bought Vim cleanser at Longos and used 60cents in CT money to buy one of the Whiskas cat foods on clearance (53 cents-make sure to check dates--some are expired). Made a second trip to Longos for a reduced bakery item and picked up 7 containers (found another one this morning-80cents! Made a bank deposit for April's fee).

OK, I'm am not keen on the continuing grey skies but can live with the light powder/fluffy snow falling at slow speed for the rest of March and say central heating for about the same time. Once temperatures start to rise above 0C, then the heating won't be reliable for line drying laundry overnight in the basement, so that means loads might need dryer time.
@Angela273 , you are not alone in trying to come up with supper ideas. I'd love to have a casserole of some kind but with Mom observing Lent, many ingredients are off her menu for the month and first week of April. I don't like her soups or fried vegetables and she is not keen on most of my pasta things but did eat some pasta salad yesterday. I plan on having homemade pizza once or twice to use the squeeze bottle of sauce--need to get some peppers and other toppings. Do your kids like chili or tacos or wraps?

@Ciel My kids are fairly good eaters, but some things can still be challenging. Generally speaking, our son is a better eater than our twins, since he will listen to us and eat what we tell him to. Dh doesn’t care what he eats, as long as the kids and I are fed. The ate square noodles, oven baked chicken thighs, and raw baby cut carrots for supper last night. Dh and I added our own sauces to our own plates, bbq sauce and ranch dressing. They like tacos, without the veggies inside. Sometimes they change their minds about different foods.

Tomorrow’s lunch plan is wraps, grated marble cheese, and scrambled eggs for the kids. I like scrambled eggs but they don’t like me, so I’ll use some leftover chicken thigh meat for my wraps. We’ll have some fresh veggies or fruit with it.

Soups - our kids like cream of mushroom soup, but will barely eat my homemade soups. I sent home leftover turkey veggie soup with a friend, since I was reluctant to freeze it.

I sold a bag of baby sleepers for $10 yesterday. The lady who kept delaying all weeek officially cancelled after telling me Grandma bought her girls lots of clothes sk she doesn’t even want to look through my stuff anymore. This is why I started to say I would only bring boxes into the house after they arrived, since I am tired of wasting my time and energy on no shows. I need to shovel a snow drift before I take these boxes back out to the shed.
