Umm, I don't know about this. A friend of mine says that if you get this installed, the government can actually control your heating! Scary! It connects through wifi, so who knows what else can they do?! Thanks, but no thanks!

lol thats not true. I've had them install it over a year ago with no problems. I just had my rental house installed too. It takes litterally 5 minutes....they're in and out. It connects through your wifi and you're the only one to control it

I would like to clarify the misinformation your friend has told you. There was a program called Peaksaver Plus that provided a free thermostat and during periods of high a/c use, your a/c would be turned down for about 20 minutes. This program ended in Dec 2017 and I belonged to it and never had my heat compromised. The a/c adjustment was minimal and only on super hot days.

This is a new program where you are not obligated to activate the wifi (I never did). I have a new Honeywell thermostat that is half the size of my old one, easier to use. If I choose to activate the wifi using my password, than I can control my thermostat on either my phone or tablet. But like I just said I have not activated my wifi on this new thermostat. I love free!

you can purchase these thermostats at Best Buy for between $100-$200 but free is better

It looks like the offer is over now. The website is offering a $100 rebate on thermostats instead. Glad I got in when I did 🙂
