All the rain brought a few tulips and a daffodil for Mother's Day. Mum will be happy I didn't have to spend extra.

I am thinking about buying a lovely red clematis for the garden.... Wonder where I should plant it? Saw the cherry tomatoes in a local gardening centre, but not at the store owned ones at the Superstore, etc. $1.79 seems much more than last year's $1.29. Have prices gone up?

Morning! Emptied the dishwasher before leaving the house this morning. Will toss in a load of laundry tonight and put away the dry stuff. I need to grab a box somewhere and clean out my bowl cupboard. Way too many. Then add it to my thrift store donation.

@cath007 -thanks for the regular mentions of St. Hubert's tourtieres. It's high time that I get one to have for supper! Love your stamp find--Rexall no longer offers 10% off stamp packs () and Shoppers rarely does discounts on stamp packs.
@Sweets parrow -The Bargain Shop used to be scattered all over cities but that chain almost disappeared about 10 years ago from Hamilton and other cities in Southern Ontario. I remember a location in downtown Hamilton near what is now the Lincoln Alexander Centre on King St. W, one location in the Toys R Us plaza across from Lime Ridge Mall and a few other spots. When I looked at the current Bargain Shop locations, I'm not near one and unlikely to stop in Port Colbourne to visit the shop there (I'm more likely to take the GO bus past there to get to Fairview Mall or visit Outlet Collection at Niagara somehow this summer).
@barbis9 -yes, Eaton's sometimes had some stunning clothes in their own store lines (and the scarf demo staffer on Saturdays at the downtown Hamilton store prerenovation) plus brand name lines. I miss their pricey cafeteria as it seemed relatively posh to eat there during a shopping visit at Eaton's and of course, their Eatons Uncrates the Sun promotions (menus too). As for Towers, I seldom recall going there as the stores in Hamilton were not in the west end.

The McDonald's coupon booklet came yesterday and the coupons of interest have been clipped, including putting three into my card case that I carry with me. Have to add the Harvey's coupons -the slushie coupon will come in handy on my long walks.

Aside from one downpour this morning, the rain has been light or not of long duration. I may be able to cut some grass today rather than waiting for tomorrow morning. I've noticed that the price of gas is about 1.1 cent less since Monday ($1.28/l seems better than $1.293/l)--may need to get gas next week after I use up what's left in the mower and gas container.

Tuesday night, I was able to get the 5L jug of Palmolive detergent at theWalmart flyer price and I'm relieved. That price seems to have certain times of year attached to it (two years ago, the special came around almost monthly but last year it seemed be a spring and fall deal) and I did not want to have to buy 5 of the 828ml bottles instead at 1.88 each.

MMMeats has the boneless chicken breasts sale for $16.99-sounds like a good price to have some meat in the freezer.

Yesterday, Talize sent an e-mail: Sunday sale is for 50% off purses and scarves. I have seldom looked at those accessories on my occasional trips to the Upper James store.

@coupon girl -did you sign up for the Treasure Hunt e-mails? You can select which locations you get updates for. I recently dropped the Mississauga store from my preferences and entered Burlington (I also have Waterdown chosen). Got my first Burlington update (more shoes arrived) yesterday--I think if a person picks more than two locations, somehow updates don't come for the third location so I made changes to my alerts.

Towers did not come to my town. I guess the Zellers was enough for us!

I checked through April's CC bill. DH is so oblivious. Our last take out order from Dominoes for our little party was wrong, and he didn't notice. I called in and we received a free large pizza on our account for next time. Now, I've just checked the final amount, which was $5 more than expected. I called in again, and the employee said the person who put in the order was new and must have put in a "9" instead of a "4". They're truly sorry, but can't refund the money, etc. (Why not?!) However, they will add a $10 credit to the account. Sigh. Both these credits will not go towards pizza rewards, but maybe I wouldn't have had the free pizza and the credits if they did. I suppose that's a deal in itself.

DD2 gave me a cold she's passing along from daycare. Happy mother's day to me. Being so congested when it's so nice out is not fun. Poor DD2. Now I know how she feels.

Not a good price on the chicken at all. If it's 3Lbs then it is $5.33 a LB for frozen chicken. Fresh Boneless Skinless chicken breast goes on sale for $3.97 LB all the time.

Checked out the sale flyers and think I will pop out this evening and get the groceries done and out of the way.

Need to clean out the fridge before I go and whip up a quick dinner. Leftover crockpot chicken is ready in a container. I may make DS quesidias with it.

@Angela 273 -fun to know you have your "local spots" that are good for bottle finds. I recently saw two different fathers with kids bringing in PC green plastic totes with bottles/cans they collected together or on their own (at least one kid is keeping his cash separate for his own needs) at my local beer store. Now I know who is finding the treasure at soccer fields and ball diamonds in town.
Aside from the occasional long walk and some finds, I am encountering fewer cans now but once the warm weather stabilizes, I know there will be more walkers visiting the LCBO for cold ones to the bus stop or on the way back to work from lunch break.

@Frugalbigmama -the frozen chicken breasts are unlikely to fully thaw on the walk home and I am paying for the convenience. Not going to risk walking home in warm weather with raw meat but I have been wanting chicken for some time and kept missing MMMeats' box special! Glad you know when the chicken specials get you to the store to score your deals! Usually I have to jockey for freezer space with sibling's frozen meals or pub strips or hash browns (my frozen fruit bag can get squished badly).
I still have those red potatoes in the fridge to parboil then slice up for a pizza this week (maybe tomorrow).
Might be able to do the spring fridge cleaning tomorrow as well. Pantry might have to wait for Saturday.
