May have been posted in another forum.
Dollar Tree has a sign that they will start charging for bags starting May 8.
You don't have to buy a bag if you did not bring your own. You just have to have your receipt ready in case you are asked about your purchases.

My local one started charging this week. They sell two types of re-usable ones. IIRC 2 for $1 or 3 for $1 depending on the size.

Never liked it when grocery stores did this and I forgot my bags.
Have walked out the grocery store with a full cart and no bags. Used the clear bags in the produce and meat department.
Hmm, maybe they will hide the produce bags next.

Dollarama here started to charge like the middle of April for bags at 5 cents each. I have since stopped shopping there!

Will admit the fabric bags are a bit sturdier than their plastic ones. Don't always buy a bag if it fits in my purse and not overly heavy.

My Dollarrama started this too. They didn't even ask me if I wanted to buy a bag, he automatically charged me for it.

I just wish that the money all these stores collect actually went to helping improve the environment. Most don't say or prove exactly what the 5 cents a bag they collect goes to, other than their bottom line!

Not sure the fabric kinda like a med durable cloth. I am sure they will let you feel it before you buy. Definately better than their plastic bags. Bought a small one for snacks, cards, etc small things that are light to medium weight.

I just ask them for a refund and make them take back their bag when they do it.

I've occasionally noticed that some Fortino's cashiers have a roll of the produce bags at cash because they know some customers won't pay for a bag they need. And those cashiers will bag items into those produce bags.

Given the variety of items that dollar stores sell, customers probably need about three different totes or bags-one for snacks or food, a sturdy rectangular or square tote with reinforced bottom for heavy decor or glassware and a tote for oversize posterboard or other special item like a hanging decoration.

Rain happens and posterboard becomes instant blue box material when it's wet.

Wasn't that the line that Loblaws Cos initially used when the 5 cent fee was first introduced?
