Is taking the 44-Rymal bus for the main trip possible for you? I find it takes me 10min or less to walk to the store from Upper James/Rymal after I get off the bus. Bus frequency for the 44 increases to every 20min most weekday hours starting on Sept.1!

I love the flea market in Edmonton. It's technically a thrift store, but it has a lot of homemade goods too. I got some sage for ceremonial purpose for $5 a bundle, i got some old cd's for a deal, my son got a mini cassette recorder for 10 bucks (now to find those mini tapes..) and i got some sunglasses for 3 for 15. looked brand new, they were still in a box.

@TudorChick Grand and Toy shows a dictating micro cassette for $5 on its page. The site is online orders only as the chain closed retail stores several years ago. https://www.grandandtoy.com/en/produ..._recorder.aspx

Or maybe you have friends who work in medical offices-maybe they have leads on closing doctors' offices or better yet friends who work in dictation/answering service firms-they might know where cassettes can be had?

Dec.5-I went to preview items at my local Value Village store (ahead of the Club Member dress + accessories sale). Found a newer Marks WindRiver coat (wrong colour) but it has the fleece-lined front pockets, storm coat flap, elastic cord drawstring on hood and three interior pockets that I loved from a past coat. I came back after supper to buy it (did not have the money on trip 1) and am in love! $12.99 + HST. My last WindRiver coat got me through 3 and 1/2 winters and I expect at least that many years of service from this coat!

The VV coat purchase from Sept will now become my snow shovel and yard work coat, then be donated to a textile drive in the spring (because the underarm seams had to be mended due to tears).

Let's keep the thrift store finds going! I know we have them!

I found a fur coat circa probably 1950s for 20 bucks at my thrift store. it is warm. i can wear it in my town, and not get attacked...In Edmonton...maybe i wouldn't wear it.

    Let me know your deals!

I have been so disappointed with the quality and price of walmart pantyhose. I pay more for only one pair usually whereas walmart i get a couple pairs, but its worth the one good pair from secret i find.
