Hmm.. The last book I bought, that's a hard one... I have issues paying full price, so I borrow, or read what I can find at the thrift store... I think it may have been Pride and Prejudice from the thrift store... New, it would have been Illustrated Tarot spreads about 6 years ago.. I actually lent it to someone and they kept it for four years, I lost contact with him. Then he started working with me, so I demanded my book back

I got the book Fatal Voyage by Kathy Reichs and started reading it and the beggining is extremely uh descriptive of a plane crash and I sort of got too much of a visual and put it down. It was gross talking about people without heads and arms and blood and things protruding from bodies etc. I am thinking maybe of seeing if I skip the beginning that maybe the rest of the book isn't so gross. I usually love thrillers and what not but this one was a little more descriptive than I am used to. Before this book I got Night time is My Time by Mary Higgins Clark and it was absolutely amazing!! Couldn't put it down and read the whole thing in a couple days. Oh and Deception Point by Dan Brown is very good book too! I read that one in a couple of days too-very suspenseful! Love suspense! I have been catching up on reading recently and have also been reading books that I or my mom bought in the last few yrs and Monster by Frank Perretti is very very good too. Currently I am reading a book a friend lent me called Take My Hands which is a true story about a lady who became a parapalegic and overcame great odds in the 1950's. It is a great book as well. I do like borrowing and lending books though too because the price of books can be very expensive! The Library is a great place to go!

I grab most of my books from garage sales during the summer. I stock up to hold me all the way through the winter. Paying 50 cents to a 1.00 for a big is a big difference off the regular price. Since I love to read it saves me money big time. I think the last three I got at the same time, all by an author named Maeve Binchy. I have discovered I really enjoy her writing and will be in search of more of her books.

I also usually get my books from garage sales, thrift stores or the library discard rack. I usually find some pretty good books that way.
This week was an exception, however. I actually paid full price for a book, but with good reason. This year our public library chose Jane Urquhart's "The Stone Carvers" as a reader's choice selection. Last Wednesday the author herself was at the library for a reading and discussion of the book. I managed to get one of the last tickets to the event (it was free to attend but a ticket was still required).
But I didn't have a copy of the book...I went to just about every bookstore in town trying to find one. Finally, on the day that the lecture was to take place, I snagged the last copy from the Indigo store.
I at least got to read the first couple of chapters, so I got the gist of the story before attending. However, I still felt like I was in one of those crazy dreams...you know the ones where you show up for the exam and you haven't been to school all year...every have one of those?
But I made it to the lecture and really enjoyed it! Ms. Urquhart is a lovely lady...very down to earth...and the lecture was very interesting. Best of all, I got my book signed by her. It now holds a place of honour on my bookshelf.

Heather Graham's Flynn Brother's trilogy of books:
Deadly Night
Deadly harvest
Deadly Gift
This is a paranormal/suspense trilogy about three brothers. Each book follows the story of one of the brothers..Book 3(Deadly Gift was especially good, it was a mystery story that revolves around the history of the Irish myth of the banshee)...very good suspense books with a romantic twist!
