I bought some Tylenol at Pharmasave (Kensington Pharmacy). It's not my usual pharmacy, it's a rundown hole in the wall at the building where I get my blood tests but it was convenient. It wasn't technically expired the day I bought it. The label says "Aug 2018" when I bought it on Aug 29th.

When I went back to get a refund. They said I can't return it because I've used it and it was not expired when I bought it. Besides, that was why it was on clearance up front. (Everything was more expensive than SDM, so I didn't realize it was "clearance") The manager was very rude. I asked for his card and he gave me to me like, he doesn't care if I complain.

I called the district office and they said each pharmacy is independent operation. They will have a word with them and get back to me. That was more than 2 weeks ago.

So apparently, it's alright to sell expired meds at Pharmasave.

If you are interested. They currently have "SEP 2018" Tylenol on sale.

I haven't shopped at Pharmasave in over 30 years.......it amazes me that they are still in business given how overpriced most of their products are.

Take it from a former marketing exec; while SC is very price-oriented, which can nudge members toward thinking Canadian consumers in general are too, it's simply not correct to think this is accurate to anywhere near the same degree. You and I are more the exception than the rule.

I used to work in a pharmacy and we put near-expired items on sale all the time. There's nothing wrong with near-expired OTC meds, they just lose their effectiveness after awhile. When I shop for meds, I always check the expiry date before I buy it.

Nevermind something close to the expiry or a bit passed it. I saw our Rexall here had a clearance on Motrimax but it wasn't even that big of a savings. Then I look at the expiry date and see the expiry date was almost a full year ago.

I would contact Tylenol (J&J), expressing your concern and hopefully they will replace it.
