Think it'd be wise to let soon-to-be 18 yr olds know of the interest offer if only to help them invest any Christmas cash to earn a little interest in advance of any school-related costs (books, trip costs, school supplies or good old tuition fees) say for a spring semester.

And yes, bank stocks might be worth the investment for the longer term as part of a portfolio. Lots of good ideas shared here.
