Wishing you all a blessed Christmas season and a fantastic New 2019 year ahead :occasion14:
Omg @Natalka thank you for posting. I have to share with my 18 year old son. If he every marries this is our dance song, from the time he was little he would turn up the radio and rock out to this song. I shared my love of the 70s music with him.
Oh @lilo0003 - that is most awesome! 🎄
T’was the Night Before Rizdvo
(adapted from the original poem by Clement Clarke Moore).
T’was the night before Rizdvo (Christmas) and all through the house,
The Ukies all gathered to eat some kapusta (sauerkraut).
The didukh and kolach were nestled all snug in place.
While varenyky were cooking and so was some fish.
The borshch was still simmering,
And the kompot on ice.
No one was moving,
Not even the mice.
The women in khustkas (scarves) and the men in their caps,
Had all settled round,
After a two-hour nap.
With the food on the stil (table) and the dity (children) playing in the hay,
We were all about ready to stand up and pray.
When out on the vulytsia (street), there arose such a clatter,
We all left the table to see what was the matter.
Away to the window,
The kutia flew like a flash!
We screamed “Lock all the doors and hide all the cash”!
And what to our wondering eyes should appear
But an old ancient sleigh and a bunch of reindeer.
With a wise old Vladyka,
So lively and quick,
We knew in a moment, it was Sviaty Mykolay (St. Nick).
His reindeer all ran forward as he sternly shouted,
“On Stefko and Vlodko,
Petro and Pavlo,
On Yosyf and Yurko,
Mykhash and Levko!”
Then out to the smokehouse the reindeer all flew,
With a sleigh full of kovbasa and some salo, too!
Down the smoke vent he came, with a leap and a bound,
Dancing a hopak and twirling around.
He did a short kolomyyka, then went to his work!
He gave us some presents, and then turned with a smirk.
We gave him horilka and some of Dido Slavko’s old clothes.
Then we all sang Nova Radist,
And up the smoke vent he rose.
We heard him exclaim as we took off our coats:
“Veselykh Svyat to all and to all, Na dobranich!” (Happy Holidays and to all a Good Night)!

@Natalka the ad made me cry. I remember when i had my first child i cried everytime i heard or sang 'my little sunshine' to my daughter; she will be 3 in a few weeks. I'm also pregnant with another one so i think my hormone is making me really sensitive these days. Lol
Didn't celebrate on the Julian calendar this year, just in spirit.
Rizdvoh (Christmas)
Xристос народився !! Славімо Його!
Khrystos narodyvsya !! Slavimo Yoho!
Christ is Born!! Let us Glorify Him!!
I know Christmas has been long over for all of you, but for those who follow the Julian calendar, today is Epiphany, the Feast of Jordan.
It's the final holiday of the Christmas cycle.
“Як Йордані, хрестився Ти Господи, тоді об´явилося пошана Тройці....”
In the Jordan, You were baptized O Lord, then the Holy Trinity became manifested....”
Христос oхрестився в Йордані!
Christ has been baptized in the Jordan!
