    Bed Bath and Beyond listed a University Savings deal specifically for University students on their recent BTS flyer:

Must be a University student to receive this offer. Standard coupon exclusions apply. See a store associate for details.

    Not sure if my post is ok. What we use to do is when we had a text that cost $500, we would
    1) go to the school library and find out if the text will be in the reference section or available via interlibrary loan (ILL). If ILL, a group of us, 10, would borrow it one at a time, for the semester, and meet in a group for readings and assignments.
    2) go to the professor and ask if the publisher gave a 'desk copy' for the instructors. If so, we asked if we could take turns borrowing it. The whole class. If yes, we were the first 10 in line.
    Savings = $500

    There's usually some grocery stores nearby campuses that will give a 10% discount on a certain day in the week for student groceries if they show their student ID.

    Much the case with St.Catharines...

    Sobeys Glendale - 10% off W/Air Miles and Student Card on Tuesday
    Zehrs Pen - 10% off W/Student Card on Tuesday
    RCSS St.Catharines - 10% back in PCO Pts W/Student Card on Tuesday

    I used and abused these deals the entire 4 years I was in school. Probably helped to save me an extra thousand dollars at least!

    Freshii in Dundas University Plaza will offer 10% off student orders with valid ID during the month of September.

    Food Basics-Westdale (Hamilton ON) offers 10% off student groceries on Tuesdays (not too far from McMaster University's main campus)
    Bulk Barn gives students 10% off with ID on Wednesdays. http://www.bulkbarn.ca/en/promo/Seni...dents_Discount

    Most student associations have deals with local merchants for students using their ID cards off-campus for specific items or days.

    There are major banks that offer student banking accounts and incentives, provided you don't already have an account with the banks, that could reduce or zero-out monthly banking fees.

    Something not often mentioned-if your budget permits, join your future professional organizations at the student member rates which are much less than a full member's rate. That way, you could have access to any free or paid events that come up during your academic year.
